The Connector
News from the Lancaster County School District, August 2022
Lancaster County Community,
In a little over a week we will be opening school doors and welcoming more than 15,000 students into our buildings. We have been working all summer to update and clean current buildings, hire and train new staff, plan routes for bus drivers, register new students and more.
We hope you know the safety of your children is our number one priority. We are consistently evaluating safety procedures and making adjustments as necessary. We are ready for all the normal that the 2022-2023 will bring: open houses, in person pep rallies, ball games, recess, school dances and more.
Enjoy your last week of summer. We are beyond excited about the 2022-2023 school year!

School Supply Drive Update
The Lancaster County community is AMAZING! We have had several organizations contact the district wanting to donate school supplies to the students of Lancaster County.
Classroom Central, in partnership with the Carolina Panthers and the Tepper Foundation, are generously donating nearly 5,000 backpacks of essential supplies to every student in nine of our schools. Recipient schools were chosen for the Backpacks & Basics Program based on their percentage of free/reduced lunch among other criteria. These supplies will be delivered to schools next week!
Our district-wide school supply drive has brought in dozens of boxes of supplies and monetary donations to buy supplies for our students. Other organizations are also collecting supplies for our district including Sun City, Treetops and Continental Tire. These items will be distributed amongst the remaining schools not included in the Classroom Central distribution.
United Way Teacher Drive
- clorox wipes
- hand sanitizer
- lysol spray
- boxed tissues
- band-aids
- ziplock bags
You can donate one of three ways:
- Purchase items on Amazon and have them shipped directly to the United Way but scanning the QR code on the flyer below.
- Drop off donations between 9am and 4pm at the United Way: 109 S. Wylie Street in Lancaster
- Drop off donations with their volunteers at the Lancaster Wal-mart this weekend for tax-free weekend and at Chick-fil-a in Lancaster on Wednesday (August 10).
Bus Transportation
We have new drivers who are learning routes and veteran drivers who are learning new routes and students as well. Everything won’t be perfect so please be patient with us.
Call us if you need us, and please be patient. But most importantly, be kind to each other as we never know the adversity someone else may be dealing with.
Below is the link to confirm if your child has been registered to ride a bus on the first day of school:
Please note: If your child was not registered to ride a bus prior to the July 15th deadline, they will not be assigned to a bus until after Labor Day.

Esser Fund Survey
Lancaster County School District (LCSD) seeks public input on how the district should use federal funding received from the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER) to address students’ academic, social, and emotional needs resulting from the impact of COVID-19. LCSD must consider the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on underrepresented student subgroups, including each major racial and ethnic group, children from low-income families, children with disabilities, English learners, gender, migrant students, students experiencing homelessness and children and youth in foster care.
Please take a moment to submit your input as to how the district should spend the ARP - ESSER III allocation. LCSD received over $25.8 million to address learning loss and academic needs related to the Covid19 pandemic. Funds cannot be used for bonuses. Click on the link below to complete the survey.
