Term 4 Learning Model Change Request

Fort Bend ISD will open the Learning Model Change Request Form on Thursday, February 4, at 8:00 a.m. for families who are requesting a change for the final grading period of the current school year. Parents or guardians who would like to request a change in their child’s current learning model must complete a learning model change request form in Skyward Family Access by February 11, at 11:59 p.m. The change will be effective for the fourth grading period that begins March 29. This form only needs to be completed if a change is requested. If a student is staying in their current learning model, no action is required.

SMS Cell Phone Policy

This is a reminder to all parents and students that Sartartia Middle School is an "Away for the Day" campus. Student devices (including cell phones, headphones, airpods, etc), are to be turned off and in a backpack unless the classroom teacher has allowed the use of devices for instructional purposes. Phones and other devices that are visible in classrooms and hallways during the school day will be picked up and held in in the front office until the end of the day. Administrators and staff will be doing hall sweeps to collect all phones and devices that are not being used for instructional purposes. All students have access to a phone in the front office to contact a parent or guardian if needed.

Reminders for Jag Families

Attendance and engagement in all classes, regardless of learning model, is expected from every student, every day. Parent notes are required for all absences within five days from the absence date. Notes must include full student name as well as the reason for the absence (including technical difficulties). If a student misses a synchronous engagement, they are counted absent. Please email all absence notes to Contact our attendance clerk, Mrs. Williams, at (281)634-6322 if you have questions.

1. The student is required to attend all classes for every period a class is offered.

2. The student has to respond to roll call when the teacher calls his/her name.

3. The student has to be engaged and participate in class.

4. If the student is having technical issues, missing the classing link, they should email the teacher during the class about the issue.

Ren360 MOY Assessment (Jan 19-Feb 12)

In order to measure student growth in the areas of Reading and Math for the 2020-2021 School year, the Renaissance 360 middle of the year (MOY) assessments will be administered January 19th - February 12th. During this window, FBISD teachers and staff will proctor the administration of the assessment for face-to-face AND online students. A separate notification went to parents on January 17 via email that outlined the REN360 middle of the year (MOY) assessments that are being administered. It is particularly important for parents of online students to read it, as we are relying on you to a degree to ensure it is successful. In the online testing environment, family members/caregivers may only help students get online and log into the test site. Once the test begins, students are NOT permitted to use other people, devices, or any other resources to help them answer test questions. For more information about Star Renaissance 360 Assessments, visit the Renaissance parent webpage.

SMS Morning Tutorials

Tutorials are offered throughout the week by each teacher and team. These tutorials are available to all students and offered virtually from 8:20-8:45am through Teams. Teachers have posted their tutorial times and links in Schoology, but you can also access the complete schedule and all links in the attached document.

Daily Wellness Screening

Parents/students must complete a Daily Wellness Screening through Skyward. If your child is cleared, they may attend school that day. If your child is not cleared, they may not report to school and a member from the district COVID-19 contact tracing team will contact families directly. In addition to the screener, students will receive, and must pass, a temperature check before reporting to their classroom. To make student entry as safe and efficient as possible, please make sure the screener is completed prior 8:00 AM each day. Another way students can be allowed in is by showing a screen shot of their “cleared” screen. This screen shot must show the date for that day to be accepted.

Secondary Student Support Portal

In an effort to enhance our technology support, Fort Bend ISD has given secondary students (Grades 6 - 12) the ability to report application and hardware incidents using the FBISD Support Portal via 1Link. Students will select Student Application Support or Student Hardware Support to request assistance.
