In this issue, we explor some of the many on-the-go resources that can help you deal with and prevent stress. These are just a few of the apps out there, so feel free to explore and find your own favorites.

Managing Your Stress

Breath2Relax | free | available for both Android and iPhone

Mental health experts maintain that diaphragmatic breathing is a cornerstone of stress relief. Breathe2Relax guides you through the process with clear videos that help you practice and master the technique. Plug in your headphones and inhale/exhale your way through stress.

GPS for the Soul | free | available for both Android and iPhone

This app, operates a bit like biofeedback. Place your fingertip over your phone camera lens, and the app’s built-in sensor will measure your heart rate and its variability. Then, factoring in your age, weight and gender, the app displays your stress level, indicated along a color spectrum that corresponds to an emotional state. It then offers you ways to help lower stress, like listening to calming music or viewing relaxing photos (or family pictures).

At the same time, a pacer will help regulate your breathing as soon as you sign into the app. Watch your screen to see a "pulse" — a slightly darkened area of the background shape like a sine curve — go up and down. Follow the curve as it rises and falls, breathing in and out. As you steady your breaths, you are already de-stressing.

Have you ever wished you could put all your worries in a box, leave them there, and walk away? The Worry Box app may let you do just that. The app functions a lot like a journal: Write down your thoughts, anxieties, and worries, and let the app help you think them through. It will ask questions, give specific anxiety-reducing help, and can even direct you to help you reduce your worries and anxiety. It is all password protected, so you can feel safe sharing the details of your stresses.

This app seamlessly tracks your homework and class schedules. Its calendar feature supports time, block, and period-based schedules, while the homework setting lets you schedule a due date and reminders under a particular class.

SelfControl | free | available for iPhone only

Do you get easily distracted from the studying ! Can’t live without social networks or checking the newest photos of your friends on Instagram? The SelfControl app was created just for you. With this app, you can block certain websites that distract you from studying for a set amount of time. So, when a your project is finished, you are welcome to come back to your favorite websites again!

Any.Do dutifully reminds you to take a moment to plan your day, every morning. For every task, you can share it with a contact, add sub-notes, or set a reminder. Sync it to your computer for greater control.
