SCHOOL SECURITY
Over the summer, a contractor installed nearly 600 new or upgraded security cameras at all of our district buildings. Along with the Raptor system for visitors and A.L.I.C.E. Training for responding to emergency situations, the cameras are another step in creating a safe teaching and learning environment for students and staff.
The cameras have two purposes. One is to monitor visitors as they approach our buildings. The second is to monitor movement inside our buildings. In both situations, we will be better able to respond quickly to unusual situations when necessary.

LUNCHROOM VOLUNTEERS
LUNCHROOM MONITOR SIGN-UP SHEET
2017-2018
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Each school day, two Lunchroom Monitors volunteer to assist students from 11:25 AM-1:10 PM. I am in the process of compiling email addresses for Sign-up Genius.
Would you enjoy seeing your child at lunch and helping children who need things? It's a great way to meet your child's friends and encourage those who need a helping hand, or just a smile to brighten their day
All lunchroom monitors must submit the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Clearance, PA Child Abuse Clearance, Cogent receipt with date of fingerprinting and/or unofficial results for the FBI Fingerprinting Check, and TB Test Results.
You will be contacted by SIGN-UP GENIUS to sign-up for any available days. When you arrive, a Raptor Badge will be given to you. Then meet your "parent partner" in the lunchroom. There are buckets on top of the steel shelving unit at the far end of the lunchroom - they are filled with straws, napkins, utensils, etc. Please take one and get ready to greet the children.
For extra help, there is always a teacher on duty; he/she will handle dismissal and any discipline issues.
Preschool siblings are also welcomed (but must be supervised) and can enjoy visiting with their brothers/sisters during lunch.
If you are able to generously donate some of your time, please email the following information to Ms. Barndt at bbarndt@pennridge.org

KINDERGARTEN PICNIC
Again this year we hosted a picnic for our incoming kindergarten students in an effort to acclimate them to Bedminster. Ms. Barndt, our secretary, and our kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Clemens, Mrs. Childs and Mrs. Crawley, Mrs. Svanson our Instructional Support Teacher, Mrs. Petersen, one of our first grade teachers, and Miss Alison, the Kiddie Academy Director, joined us for the celebration. We were so excited to meet so many of our new kindergarten students and spend time getting to know each of them. During our time together, we enjoyed lunch and shared favorite summer memories. Before the students left, we asked them a few questions and here were their responses:
1. What do you think you’ll learn in kindergarten this year? Abby H. and Lilia said, We are going to learn to read.” Sean said, “Learn how to have fun!” Addelyn said, “We are going to learn numbers and math.” Emily C. said, “We are going to learn to write words like my name.” Students, Abigail H, Sinjin, and Emma said, “To know our letters.” Kieran is excited to learn about spiders in kindergarten.
2. What will you do on the playground? Kingston is excited to go across the bridge while Abby H. and Griffin are excited to go down the slide. Jackson and Riley are looking forward to climbing on the money bars, and Evan E. can’t wait to play with his friends on the swings.
3. Why are you excited to start kindergarten? Students, Taylor, Glory, Finn, Deacon, and Amilya are excited to come to kindergarten to play on the playground. Emma is looking forward to taking turns. Jayden M. can’t wait to go on field trips. Brooklyn is excited to play with Playdoh and Emily is looking forward to learning the rules of school like no pushing in line!

Reach for the S.T.A.R.S.
A Bedminster Bobcat T.A.K.E.S. P.R.I.D.E. remains our theme for the 2017-2018 school year.
Reach for the S.T.A.R.S. reminds us of the importance of following school rules to create a safe and fun environment where learning occurs.
1. Come to school prepared to be a responsible learner. (Strive to be your best.)
2. Travel through the school community in a quiet and orderly manner. (Travel quietly).
3. Always follow directions the first time they are given.( Always follow directions).
4. Respect yourself, others, property and learning. (Respectful behavior).
5. Use your body and words to help and not to hurt. (Safety always.)
A Bedminster Bobcat T.A.K.E.S. P.R.I.D.E. supports the Pennridge School District initiative to reinforce social and emotional learning by incorporating the district theme of the month into our school-wide theme. It is our hope that repeated exposure and meaningful experiences with the theme will help Bedminster students develop the character traits associated with the theme. ( Trustworthy, Acceptance, Kindness, Empathy, Service, Perseverance, Respect, Initiative, Dependability, and Esteem Building.). Students and staff will participate in our monthly T.A.K.E.S. P.R.I.D.E. assemblies along with other social emotional learning experiences. Last school year, students and staff enjoyed trivia with Mrs. Meiners, Minute to Win-it games and especially being recognized by Mrs. DiPaolo for demonstrating T.A.K.E.S. P.R.I.D.E. behaviors at school.
Look for exciting events associated with our theme in upcoming newsletters!
