Googly Girls Gone-wild

*Jasmin Zaman*

Dear Gabby,

I have read your column for years, but I never thought that I would be writing to you. I’ve tried going to meetings of “Women who love too much” but I’m still hurting, so I thought maybe you could help me. My problem is that the guy I love doesn’t want to be in the same room with me. He pushes me away every time we get close, for his heart is only set on one girl. I see the hurt in his eyes, and how much of an annoyance I am, but… but… I just can’t help but feel the particular way I do about this man. Any suggestions or advice on what I should do or how to get over him would be greatly appreciated.

A whimpering, heart-dried girl

Dear you poor whimpering heart-dried girl,

I acknowledge your repeated effort to chase after this man. It takes an abundant amount of courage and persistence to stick with just one. Not only do I understand how difficult and heart wrenching it may be, but I recognize the depression that follows it. Furthermore, I know how hard it is when the guy you adore pushes you away every chance you get.

So to say, I am honored you have wrote me for my intake on your situation. From my experiences I have realized that sometimes it is in your best interest to let the boy go and cut him from your hurt heart. Obviously if it’s making both you and him miserable it’s not meant to be in the first place. Although it’s going to take work, many heart- broken nights and most importantly time, in the end something much greater will come out of it. You will now be able to explore all the fish in the sea. This opportunity will open your eyes to a whole new world. One day you finally meet the perfect man: someone who makes you happy, who wants to be with you as much as you want to be with him, and lastly someone who loves you for you. It will make you realize why it didn't workout with any other person.

Another effective method I have been using on my clients for years is what I like to call the “snap and trap" methood. Instead of constantly following him around and being an annoying fly, try getting his attention in an alternate way. You have to snap him in, and win him over. For example you can think of something so clever it will blow his mind. He could end up having a different view on your relationship and a different perspective towards you, this could affect your relationship in a positive way. On the other hand however, if he continuously pushes you away when you approach him in this different manner you could come across as even more annoying.

Well, it’s your choice and completely up to you as of what path you decide to take. I’ll be cheering you on through any of them! Don’t forget to stay true to yourself and always know there are many other options.
