Principal Message
Ray Community,
This week at Reagan we welcomed some district visitors into our classrooms. Our new Chief of Schools and our fabulous Area Superintendent came by this week to see our amazing Rays in action. While we walked through classrooms we discussed how important our community is for our students. I truly believe we have the best community in our district. The support of our parents, staff, students and community members is key to our success at Reagan. Thank you for always being supportive of our campus.
We also welcomed our Cedar Park fire department to campus. They put on a play for our Pre-Kindergarten to second grade students about Fire Safety. The play was adorable and everyone enjoyed them being here. All of our students made thank you notes for their participation in putting out the Cedar Park brush fire. We were able to present them with those notes this past Tuesday.
This week we celebrated our amazing CNS team. These wonderful women work to provide 798 students with meals each day. We are so appreciative of all they do for our students.
Next week is School Bus safety week. We will be participating in bus evacuations on Tuesday. We have created cards and treat bags for our amazing bus drivers. If you see a bus driver this next week give a waive to show your appreciation.
We are so excited to welcome Ms. Villarreal's brother to campus on Monday. He is a local Sheriff's Deputy. He will be demonstrating the lights on his car and talking about his role in our community with our Pre-K students. We wanted to make everyone aware in case you come to campus and see him in the parking lot.

Watch DOGS
We are looking for amazing dads who would like to volunteer with Watch DOGS (Dads of Great Students). Watch DOGS strengthen the relationship between Reagan and our community. The program provides an opportunity for dads to engage in the lives of our students and it increases the presence of positive male role models. Watch Dogs typically volunteer for a full or half day on campus. They spend their time reading with students, helping with lunches, participating in specials, and walking the halls to make sure the building is secure. If you would like to participate, please sign up here.
Crosswalk Update
Rays,
I am so sad to notify you that our Gupton crossing guard has had to resign. Currently Mrs. Murphy and other staff have filled the position. If you are interested in volunteering to help or if you are interested in applying for the position, please reach out to our front office team at 512-570-7200.
Upcoming Events in October
Rays,
We have some fun events coming up in October and I am excited to share a bit about each of them with you.
We are bringing Run Club back starting October 19th (please know this date may be subject to change). Run Club will be hosted after school from 2:45-3:45. You will need to fill out the form below to sign up and you will need to give permission for your student to participate. Run Club will be open for all 1st-5th graders. Students will meet in the gym and be taken out to run after our busses leave. You will pick your students up at the front of the school at 3:45 pm. We will host a parent meeting for those who sign up prior to the start. Sign Up Form
Glow Omni Bar Event:
PTA is excited to host Omni Bar on October 17th for a fun class of Glow Bar. This event will be available to the first 60 people who sign up and hosted in our school gym. Please see the sign up under PTA events below.
Adventure Dash:
Adventure Dash is coming to campus. PTA has chosen Adventure Dash to replace APEX this school year as a PTA fundraiser. Adventure Dash will begin on October 18th with the fun run on October 27th. This program, like APEX, allows for all students to run; however, instead of earning toy prizes students can earn experiences for every $30 raised. Classes may also earn class experiences. Once we have a schedule for when students are running we will be sure to share it with our community.
2023 Storybook Pumpkin Patch
Pumpkin drop off: 10/16-23.
Pumpkin pick up: before 11/3. All remaining pumpkins will be tossed at the end of the school day.
Awards: Participants entered into a drawing for Scholastic book $$ certificate for book fair in November.
Students can work independently or together with a friend/sibling to create a storybook pumpkin that represents a character from a story. Characters should be age/school appropriate. Pumpkins may be real or fake and smaller than a basketball.
Real pumpkins may not be cut or have holes in them exposing their insides. This accelerates the degradation process and the library is already swampy enough to encourage that. No food/candy can be used on the pumpkin.
We recommend traditional craft supplies, acrylic paint, hot glue to attach items to the surface. Pumpkin must have a completed entry form submitted with it.
Important Dates to Remember
October 16-20: National School Bus Safety Week
October 18: Adventure Dash Pep Rally
October 23-31: Red Ribbon Week
October 31: Kinder/Pre-K Pumpkin Carving
Last week, we kicked off celebrating Filipino-American Heritage Month in addition to celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, which overlaps October 1-15. Reagan staff members celebrated both heritages through a Filipino- and Hispanic- inspired potluck where they ate dishes like pancit (a Filipino stir-fry noodle dish), lumpia (Filipino eggroll), Venezuelan empanadas, Mexican cochinita pibil (bbq meat from the Yucatán peninsula), and Argentinian cookies called alfajores! Thank you so much to all our parents who provided food for the potluck and supported these celebrations.
At the end of October, we will begin celebrating Día de los Muertos, followed by Diwali. For those interested in volunteering, please fill out the link below. For questions, please contact Katrina at reaganptadei@gmail.com
Who is ready to show their creativity? Our reflections program is a great way for students to do just that! Students will need to submit their work electronically this year! All entries must be submitted by November 7th. Please click on the QR code on the flyer below for more information!
