Rewards
1st through 5th grade students were rewarded for meeting their reading renaissance 3rd six weeks goals. Reading renaissance is a program that builds reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary and literacy skills. Two-Hundred seventy-six students met their individualized points, required reading level and average. Our goal is for all students to be reading at or above grade level. We encourage the students to choose books of interest in fiction and non-fiction.
Battle of the Books
Carmen Anaya students placed 3rd in the first annual Battle of the Bluebonnet Books Competition. Nine PSJA ISD Elementary school teams competed at South West High School on January 16. Congratulations Ynna, Erik, Dayanara and Natalie.
Anaya Café Book Club
The Carmen Anaya Café book club has started reading The book of Ember by
Twenty-three students from 4th and 5th grade meet twice a week in the library to read, discuss chapters assigned, review vocabulary and discuss literary elements of the story.
Bluebonnet Voting
Anaya 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students participated in the Texas Bluebonnet to vote for their favorite book. The students had to read five books and decide. Our total votes were for Rump the true story of rumpelstiltskin by Liesl Shurtliff
School Board Recognition
School Board president Mr. Vela was recognized in the library for his continuous support and devotion to PSJA ISD.
