Phyllis Webstad Orange Shirt Day Presentation

Orange Shirt Day Assembly this Monday

Please join us this Monday, September 30th at 12:30 pm as we set aside time and take to heart the impact of residential schools and together show a commitment to the principle that Every Child Matters.

We acknowledge Orange Shirt Day in September because it is the time of year when children were taken from their homes to residential schools. September is also an excellent time to discuss racism and bullying and set the stage for a school year grounded in peace, love and kindness.

Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools, and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.

Please make sure you wear your orange shirt on Monday!

Nutrien Seed Survivor

Seed Survivor is a free, curriculum-based education program that teaches children how to grow healthy plants and where their food comes from. They tour North America year-round and last Wednesday the Seed Survivor truck and trailer visited OLA School. Our students participated in the interactive activities and learned alot! Huge thanks to Nutrien for sponsoring this great learning opportunity, and the Dul family for spending the day volunteering!

OLA's Annual Terry Fox Run

Although the weather certainly did not cooperate, our students and staff still showed their support for Terry Fox by running their hearts out in the gym. Thank you to the families that stopped by to run, walk and encourage! If you would still like to make a donation online please visit:

Join us for READ-IN Month!

Read-in Week is October 7-11 and this year's theme is "Celebrate with Stories."

We always love every and any reason to celebrate reading, so we have expanded Read-in Week to Read-in Month!

During the Month of October we are inviting you and your loved ones to come in and take a few moments (like 30 minutes) to share your favourite picture book with our students.

We are looking for Moms, Dads, Babas, Guidos, Aunties, Uncles, (you get the point) to share their love of learning and favourite books. We welcome you to join us for READ-IN.

Please contact Mrs. Wagner via email for any questions and to arrange a time to share your favs with children and help spread a love of reading!

Thank you to our guests who have already signed up to share their love of reading!

School Spirit Theme

And to help kick off Read-In Month, our Early Dismissal Wednesday School Spirit Theme is "Favourite Story Book Character." Children are encouraged to think of a story they enjoy and dress up like one of the characters for this Wednesday, October 2, 2019.
