Alief ISD News and Recognitions

Two Center for Advanced Careers students took top honors at the SkillsUSA Competitions.

Elsik Ninth Grade Center student Kelvin Tran beat out upperclassmen to win the Gold Medal in the Information Technology Services Competition. He will be advancing to the national competition in Kentucky this June.


Taylor High School student Maggie Huynh competed in the Baking competition and won Best of Show for her cake.

Alief ISD was selected as one of Houston Business Journal's 2019 Healthiest Employers.

Only one other Houston-area school district received the award in the Extra-Large Companies category. Organizations with 5,000 or more employees were considered in this particular category.

The Youngblood Intermediate School Dance Team won second place at the I Am Dance & Cheer Competition.

Youngblood, along with Cummings, competed against other schools as well as professional dance studios.

Alief ISD teachers were spotlighted by Teach for Houston.

Alexander Elementary School teacher Pamela Stoot and Elsik Ninth Grade Center teacher Krystle Dunn were featured by Teach for Houston. Their work stories demonstrate the impact of teaching.
