Mrs. Stasney's 3rd Grade News
For the week of March 4th
Practice STAAR Testing This Week
We will start the testing right after specials at 8:30. There will not be rotation on Wednesday; rather, the students will attend only PE for 45 minutes that day.
I have told the students that I will provide them with a snack (tiny twist pretzels). If the students do not want this snack, they are welcome to bring their own. However, please do not send your child with a snack that drips (such as oranges) or a snack that stains their fingers (such as Cheetos, Doritos, or Takis). I have told the students that they will not be allowed to eat these types of snacks during testing so that the test booklets and scantrons do not accidentally get stained. Thanks for your help with this! :)
Read Across America Last Friday!
After specials, our class headed down to Mrs. Owens's kindergarten class and read books with kindergarten buddies! Then we helped our buddies make a "Horton Hears a Who" craft with toilet paper rolls, paper, and glue! All kids (both K and 3rd graders) had so much fun that Mrs. Owens and I decided we would continue this on the first Friday of each month for the rest of the school year!!
Then, in the afternoon, 3 Aggie athletes (one football player and 2 swimmers) plus an Aggie Yell Leader came to Bowen! The athletes gave inspirational speeches about working through hardships and focusing on academics before athletics. The Yell Leader read "Green Eggs & Ham" to the school. There was a photographer there from "The Eagle." If you haven't seen some of the pictures from the event, check them out on the newspaper's website (theeagle.com).

Biography Projects
Your child can work on their projects at home as well as at school, but please make sure they bring their work with them to school each day. There will be time each day during class to work on these, and all students need to be working during this time, even if they are working on it at home.
Students who chose the pizza box biography project will receive their pizza boxes on Monday. Students who chose the biography poster will need their poster boards on Monday (or Tuesday at the latest).
Please email me if you have any questions about the project! :)
