Carpool Procedure
First Days of School Notes on Carpool
Keeping your children safe is, quite literally, the single most important thing that we do from 7:30am - 3:30pm each day! Ensuring their safety during carpool is a team effort between the parents and the staff. We respectfully ask that all parents take a moment to review the content in this newsletter to ensure that we are all aware of the proper carpool procedures and are each doing our part to keep our children safe. Please be sure to share these guidelines any time you have a sitter, grandparent, etc. driving your child during carpool.
In observing our carpool process in action these first few days, we wanted to take a moment to highlight a few things to allow us to work together to keep our students safe!
Thank you for your support!
~Mrs. Kissel
Morning Carpool
Here are a few important reminders about morning carpool:
- Students may be dropped off between 7:30am - 7:55am at the North Gym or the circle drive along Illinois Street
- Students may not be left on school grounds unsupervised prior to 7:30am!
- Students are encouraged to arrive by 7:50am in order to ensure that they are in their classroom when school begins at 8am. If you child arrives after the 8am bell, they will be considered tardy and need a parent to walk them in to the welcome center and sign them in on the iPad. (*Students in 7th and 8th grade are encouraged to arrive by 7:40am so they are prepared for school to begin at 7:50am.)
- If a parent wants to walk their student to the Welcome Center, please park in the main church lot on the south end of the building and walk them in using the Illinois Street entrance.
Afternoon Carpool ~ Parking
As the 3:15 bell rings and during dismissal/carpool, we have to stress the following:
Any parent/guardian picking up during afternoon carpool should park in the primary church lot on the south end of the building (see the "Dismissal Procedures" image below) or in the Late Carpool line in the circle drive along Illinois. These are the ONLY approved parking places during afternoon carpool!
Out of respectful consideration for the Parish, please....
- Do NOT park in the 15 minute or Adoration Chapel parking spots OR pull up to the circle
- Do NOT park in designated parking spots for Parish or School Staff members
- Do NOT park in the preschool parking areas or pull up along, in or by the preschool entrance/exit
- Do NOT park in surrounding residential areas
Parents cannot park in these and other undesignated or unsafe areas and have their children walk to them. This is disrespectful of the Parish's needs and, much more importantly, is dangerous as it does not allow our staff to supervise and protect the safety of all students.
Parents can only be in the designated carpool or late carpool to pick up their children once dismissal begins. If you need to pick up your child before dismissal or know that you will not be able to wait safely for carpool to conclude, please feel free to call the office and have your child picked up early to ensure the safe pick up of your child and all others.
We would also like to reiterate that any person bringing your child to school or picking them up at the end of the day must be familiar with and adhere to the carpool procedure as outlined in this Special Edition Ram Page and can always be found HERE for reference and education.
The risks are too high to not get this correct - every time, every day.
Thank you for your partnership!
We also want to thank Msgr. Schaedel and Fr. Joby for joining us on Thursday, August 22nd in afternoon carpool for a car blessing of all St. Luke school family vehicles. This blessing rite, asks God to appoint his holy angels over the cars and passengers.
