Griggs family Go Fund me page
On March 28, one our 7th grade students, Ella Griggs, suffered a hemorrhagic stroke while at lacrosse practice. Ella is a definite light amongst our student body exhibiting exuberance, joy and kindness. Her absence in her time of recovery has been keenly felt amongst our student body and staff. Ella spent over 3 weeks in ICU and is currently undergoing strenuous rehab at CHOA. Her recovery will be extensive.
So many families have contacted the school with concern asking how they might help the Griggs family in this time of need. A GoFundMe page is available to assist the Griggs family in the escalating medical expenses associated with hospital care, continued rehabilitation and any medical equipment that might be necessary for her recovery. The Griggs family would appreciate any support our CMS family could offer. For any updates on her condition, you may also visit the facebook page #shineonella. https://www.gofundme.com/shineonella
We are ONE ROSWELL.!! Your prayers, thoughts and dedication to this family are vital and appreciated!!
Picking Up Clinic Meds
If your child has any medications in the clinic, please remember to pick them up before the last day of school. All medications not picked up will be disposed of. If you know your child will have medication in the clinic for the next school year (epi-pens, inhalers, etc.), a medication authorization form needs to be signed by your doctor over the summer. These forms are only good for one school year and must be renewed each year. If you have any questions, please call the clinic @ 470-254-8339. Forms for next year can be picked up at our clinic or downloaded at

GO HORNETS!
Commissioner Liz Hausmann and Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority to Host May 8th Health Forum
Opioids…By now, we are all familiar with this word and tragic circumstances it creates. There is no denying that we are in the midst of an epidemic. It’s time to plan our path to recovery. Join us at the 2018 North Fulton County Community Health Forum, where the Fulton DeKalb Hospital Authority (FDHA), mental health, and addiction experts will unite with citizens to plot a course forward at 6:00 p.m. on May 8, 2018 at Roswell’s Centennial High School.
Commissioner Hausmann emphasizes the purpose of the forum, “This Forum will focus on opioid addiction. Communities and families are being destroyed by this epidemic. We have heard hundreds of stories both locally and nationally regarding the deadly dangers of opioid addiction. We want to assist with linking our residents to the resources available here in North Fulton, and will discuss how to recognize the problem and learn where they can get help.” She added, “We want to offer resources to reduce the effects of this dangerous addiction, while also hearing from the community concerning continuing needs that must be addressed.”
Lisa Flagg, CEO of the FDHA explains, "In 2017 deaths related to drug overdoses are nearly equal to motor vehicle deaths. At the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority we find this unacceptable and joining forces with the commissioner is one way to address this challenge."
Commissioner Hausmann will serve as the moderator of the panel discussion.
Health Forum panelists include:
LaTrina Foster, Director of the Fulton County Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Diane E. Milner, Certified Addictions Counselor, Grady Health System Robin Buckley, Director of Member Services, Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce Ewell Hardman, Master Addiction Counselor, Summit Counseling Center Laurisa Barthen, Peer Counselor, Georgia Substance Abuse
Health Providers and Counselors will be on hand to answer questions and provide additional information.
Information is also available on the Fulton County website at www.fultoncountyga.gov or citizens can connect with Fulton County government on Twitter at @FultonInfo or Facebook at @fultoninfo.
Citizens in need of reasonable accommodations due to a disability including communications in an alternative format should contact the Disability Liaison in the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities at (404) 613-6385. For Georgia Relay Access, dial 711.
