September 9th: Technology Boot Camp
First Week
It was great to meet you and your child during Great Start Conferences. We enjoyed having the individual time with your child. Should you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at any time; within 24 hours we will get back to you.
Our first full day of school was filled with community building activities, reviewing daily procedures, and experiencing the new fifth grade routines. It was a fantastic and busy day!
Reading
As we began to label and organize schools supplies. Many students did not have their two spiral notebooks for reading. This was announced on a school email, not on the supply list. Although we have extra notebooks in the office, we do not have enough for every student in our house.
Make sure your child is beginning to read nighty. The goal for September is 30 minutes per day,
Technology Boot Camp
Next week your child will be participating in a Technology Boot Camp. As a fifth grader, your child will have a laptop assigned to them. These laptops will be stored in a cart in your child's homeroom. It's their responsibly to transport their laptop to encore, reading, writing, and math classes.
As part of the Boot Camp your child will review the Student Technology Expectations. We highly encourage you to purchase the insurance for your child's laptop. There have been many occasions in the past where students drop their laptops, causing screens to crack, keys to fall off, etc.
Permission Slips
Please return the PG permission slip to your homeroom teacher. Mrs. Keefe and Mrs. Kingsley students need to return the parent contact form in order to let them know your preferred contact information for the year.
Snacks
There are peanut allergies in our house. Since students travel from classroom to classroom, we ask that peanuts and tree nuts are not brought as your child's snack. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
