Mr. Corso's Weekly Message
Positive Raiders: Responsible, Respectful, Hard Working and Kind
As parents, my wife and I face some of the same challenges many of BMMS families have experienced. Social Media and the age of technology has made growing up in 2021 so different from the experience I had in middle school. My wife and I were talking the other day about a Tic Tock Challenge we heard about. The “blackout” challenge dared people to choke themselves until they became unconscious. As a result, a 12 year old boy who did the challenge died in Colorado (article link). That could have been my son or one of our BMMS students. It broke my heart. I am going to remind my kids at home about the dangers they might experience online. Here are some resources to help you have these types of conversations with your own children:

The Remainder of the Year at a Glance
8th Grade Promotion Update
BMMS plans to hold both an on-campus and virtual promotion this year. The On-Campus Ceremony will be Friday, June 18, 8:30am-9:30am. There will be limited occupancy from a student’s household only, we will videotape the ceremony, & post it on YouTube the afternoon of June 18. Certificates for on-campus students will be received the day of Promotion. The Virtual Ceremony will be a video posted the morning of June 18 (like last year's virtual ceremony LINK). Virtual families will also have a June 11 picture opportunity in Quad. Certificates for virtual families will be sent home in the mail. We will be surveying families soon to ask for their preference.
Black Mountain Middle School Promotion
June 18, 2021
8:30am-9:30am
Lower Grass Field (Behind 10 Building)
MCHS Gate: We are excited to announce students may now use the walkway between MCHS and BMMS for exiting our campus. Our BMMS gate will be an exit-only gate until further notice. Students need to check in at the front of BMMS before the beginning of the school day but may exit through the back gate leading to MCHS. This gate is only for exiting now because we must acquire more equipment and personnel to support our check in process.

Home Field Ambassadors
Home Field Advantage (HFA) is when all Raiders feel safe and part of a community where they are supported, empowered and united. It takes many people to truly create the HFA. Our Home Field Ambassador for the month of April are Kayleigh Slavin and Lauren Surett. Mrs. Slavin is our incredible math teacher who led our Hero Squad fundraiser and supports teachers during the TPLES process. Mrs. Surett plays such an important role as an instructional aide in our English Language Learner/Emerging MultiLingual Learner program. Thank you both for helping provide the Home Field Advantage!
BMMS Team Solving Problems Before They Happen
