Who is he?


His full name was Alan Mathison Turing.

Birth date: 23 June 1912 Maida Vale, London, England, United Kingdom.

Death Date: 7 June 1954, aged 41, Wilmslow, Cheshire, England, United Kingdom.

His Father: Julius Mathison Turing.

His mother: Ethel Sara.

Earliy Life...

Julius's work with the ICS brought took the family to British India.

However, Julius and Ethel want their children brought up in england so the moved to Maida Vale where Alan was born. He had an elder brother, John. During his childhood his parents traveled between Hastings and india leaving their two sons to stay with a retired Army couple. Sherbourne school, a well known independent school in the market town of Sherbourne in Dorset. The first day of term coincided with the 1936 general strike in Britain, but so determined was he to attend that he rode his bicycle unaccompanied more than 60 miles from South Hampton to Sherborne, stopping overnight at an inn.

What he did...

Alan worked from 1952 until his death in 1954 on Mathmatical Biology, specifically morphogenesis. He published one paper called The Chemical Basis of Morphogensis in 1952. His main interest was on the Fibonacci Phyllotaxis the existance of Fibonacci numbers in plant structures.
