McIntire Minutes 10/14/16

The School Year is Flying By!

Can you believe we're almost at the end of the 1st quarter!? The school year is flying by!

You should receive a note soon if you haven't already from your child's teacher about Parent / Teacher conferences on October 25th and 27th. We relish the opportunity to discuss your child's progress with you and appreciate your attendance. While many of our teachers (especially in grades 2-5) opt for "open" or "student-led" conferences, you do as a parent have the right to request a traditional "closed" conference with just you and the teacher. Just let us know if that's what you prefer and we'll be happy to oblige. Both formats have their strengths and weaknesses and we're happy to accommodate your families needs.

With Parent / Teacher conferences you will receive your child's report card, attendance record and MAP testing results as well. Thank you for your continued support of your student's education and allowing us to partner with you in that endeavor.

PTO Needs Your Help!

Volunteers Needed! The week of October 23rd is a busy one for PTO. We will be hosting a book fair at school as well as providing meals for teachers and staff during the evenings of parent/teacher conferences. All of this can’t be accomplished without a lot of support from our McIntire families. We need book fair workers as well as food donations for the meals. Check out https://www.facebook.com/McIntirePTO/ or email us at mcintirepto@gmail.com if you would like to help. Thanks for your support!

Remember to Dress for the Weather

As the weather turns colder, please encourage your students to bring a jacket or coat with them to school each day. As a general guideline, students need to be wearing a light jacket or hoodie if the weather is below 55° and a heavier coat if the temperature is below 45°. Students may not be allowed to go outside if the weather is too cold and they’re not dressed warmly enough. Recess will be indoors in the event of wet playground equipment, dangerous snow/ice or if the windchill is below 15°. Thanks for your help in keeping our students safe!

Working on our Reading!

A Reminder About School Opening Times

As the weather turns colder, I felt the need to remind everyone about our policies regarding the opening of school. Doors open everyday at 7:45 - Students arriving before this may not be allowed into the building as our staff is not yet on hand to aid in their supervision. PLEASE help us keep your students safe by not dropping them off prior to 7:45.

Student of the Month Winners

This Friday we held our monthly PBIS assembly and recognized our classroom "Student of the Month" winners from August and September. Students are chosen by classroom teachers for demonstrating tremendous academic growth and / or serving as tremendous examples of being safe, respectful and responsible. Congratulations!

STEAM Night Rescheduled

Due to conflicts with some of the other agencies around Fulton that help with our STEAM night, we have decided to reschedule that event. STEAM night will NOT be on November 10th and will instead be held on Thursday, January 12th. Thank you.
