8th Grade Promotion-REVISED for weather
The National Weather Service’s forecast for tomorrow calls for rain and thunderstorms during our promotion ceremony. Consequently, we’ve made the decision to move under cover for the ceremonies. Here is the revised plan for tomorrow:
Our 8th grade promotion ceremony will now take place in our covered play area. Students will walk with their classes from the music wing through the courtyard to the applause of their 6th and 7th grade peers. Then, they will proceed to the covered play which they will enter from the gym and will be seated facing the stage. Family members attending the promotion ceremony will watch from the sidewalks adjacent to the covered play and from the temporary parking lot to the south. Attendees should wear appropriate rain attire and may want an umbrella because they will likely not fit under cover with the students. Our planned ceremony will happen with the same timing we anticipated previously (procession starting at 11am/3:40pm and concluding by 11:30am/4:10pm). Thank you for your continued flexibility as we celebrate our 8th graders with these adjustments for weather. Remember that masks are still required for all people at all times on campus.
Parents preferring to attend virtually may also do so via this link: Join Zoom Meeting. The brief promotion ceremony will include musical performance, a special literary reading, words of celebration and recognition, the presentation of the class to the high school administration, and a gift for each of our 8th graders. At the end of the ceremony students will be dismissed to join their parents for photos and departure. We are excited to have the opportunity to celebrate this class in a way that honors this milestone and launches them into high school in a celebratory fashion.
Credit for High School Courses Completed Before Ninth Grade Declaration of Intent Regarding High School Transcript
Per policy JECDA-AR, students may earn high school credit for accelerated courses taken before ninth grade under specified conditions.
By default, all high-school-level courses taken at a middle school in Lake Oswego School District will appear on the student’s high school transcript. These credits accumulate toward graduation, but are not calculated into the student's cumulative high school GPA.
Please use this form to notify the middle school if you do not want the course to appear on the high school transcript.

Please Verify Your Student's Information
Parents, Please Verify Your Student's Information: Beginning April 30, LOSD needs parents/guardians of all students enrolled for the 2021-22 school year to log into ParentVUE and review/update your students' information through the Register/Verify tab. This benefits both families and schools by:
Ensuring that schools have accurate information to reach parents and other contacts in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Verification is important even if your address or contact information has not changed over the past year because the school may have incorrect information from a previous year.
Confirming parent email addresses for Google Classroom and other applications to participate in your student's learning.
Enabling distribution of key information in the district's K-12 Family Handbook and Technology Agreement.
If you have forgotten your ParentVUE password, go to the login page, click "I am a Parent," then click "Forgot Password." If you are unsure whether you have a ParentVUE account, contact your student's school. For assistance with the verification process, refer to the user guide on the LOSD website or contact your student's school.
