The Cloud Connection
Dec. 15, 2014
Reading: This week we'll be reading informational texts and using strategies that help with comprehension of important information.
Writing: We'll review our goal for the last qtr. and complete some of the projects we started, but haven't had time to finish. We'll also work on making up some of our "own" vocab words using our Latin/Greek roots.
Math: Students will work on understanding multiplication of decimals this week. Homework: Mon. pg. 415-416,Tues. pg. 421-422 and Wed. pg. 427-428.
We are hoping to have decent weather so we can fly our hot air balloons this week.
Reading logs are due on Monday, Jan. 5th.
The end of the qtr. is Dec. 18 so all student work needs to be turned in by then. Thank you for helping your child do their best to complete their work and finish strong.
Student Council is opening the school store before school Dec. 16. They'll have pencils, erasers and other fun school supplies available.
Students will need to bring a box or two (and bubble wrap if you have some) so they can take their Christmas gifts for the family home safely. Boxes need to be approx. the size of a medium flat rate box.
The class voted to have a gift exchange on our last day together, Dec. 18th. The gift needs to be a generic gift that both boys and girls would like. Please keep these under $5 if possible. We talked about gifts 5th grade students like: candy, games, markers, etc. Students are encouraged to make something from home as well. We'll play a game to exchange gifts so they shouldn't be brought with a particular person in mind.
Many thanks to all of the parents who brought goodies for the bake sale during the concert and helped out. We made over $300!
The concert was a great hit and your children did a great job backstage. Thank you for your support!
If you can donate something for our Breakfast Buffet on Thursday or come and help from 8-9 please let me know. We'd appreciate the assistance.
Please enjoy the holidays with your families, and think SNOW!
