Importance of Clean Water

By: Monteze McGregor

Water, everyone needs it. Some people don't have access to clean water like we do unfortunately. I bet you never thought about how important water really is.. Let me fill you in on what i learned about the importance of water in my biology class.

In Need of Clean Water

Every day we use water whether we are drinking it , taking a shower or cooking. We have clean access to water thankfully, but other countries like Afghanistan, Cambodia, and Haiti don't have the same access to clean water like we do, some don't even have access to a toilet. This is very unfortunate .Water is essential to life. With 70 % of the earth is water only 3% is freshwater and 76% of freshwater is frozen. That is a problem itself.

Afghanistan is one of many undeveloped countries. Only 13% has clean drinking water available. Most of the population is affected by the lack of safe access to clean water.Pollution is one of the reason for the increased need for water.

  • Almost half of the population do not have access to safe water
  • Exact numbers are 6.3 million out of 14.9 million don't have access to safe drinking water
  • Main reason is that the government has made other development areas a higher priority
  • 40 % of primary school don't have access to safe water and sanitation

Believe it or not India is another country with water pollution problems.

  • It is very overpopulated with a lack of sanitation systems
  • Big grain producer causing the country to run out of water

The biggest thing we can do is, solve the problem. We can solve it by getting involved we have to making more people aware of this problem. I wouldn't have known about this issue if my ecology teacher would have made me aware of it. Donation will help a lot. Money will be needed for all the equipment and technology needed to fix the problem.

Go to to get started. Everyone help is needed.
