Soup Social for Conservation by 4-H
Join us for this fundraiser to benefit Bats at Frame
Sunday, Feb. 10 from 4:30-6:30pm at Discovery Gym
The 50+ young members of the Discovery Trackers 4-H Club and their families will be hosting a Soup Social on Sunday, February 10 from 4:30-6:30pm at the Discovery Charter School gymnasium at 800 Canonie Drive in Porter. The public is invited to come for the All You Can Eat Soup. Ticket donation price is suggested at $10/adult, $5 for kids 12 and under, and kids 1st grade or younger are free. More than 10 varieties of soup are served and diners will decide the winner of the soup contest. This year the social takes on a 'Tale of Despereaux' theme which encourages children to have hope and be brave to make changes in their world. Balloon swords for knights and paper crowns for princesses will be given to children attending the event as well as a Soup Recipe game for the little ones and readings from the Tale of Despereaux at the story nook.
This 4th annual family-friendly soup event, held by Trackers 4-H Club, supports their local nature conservation goals. This year, funds raised from Soup Social, will be used to purchase BrandenBark(R) which is a special habitat for both endangered and common Indiana bats. Trackers, together with their bat conservation partners; Izaak Walton League Porter County Chapter and the USGS, will be able to visually and auditorily monitor the bat species that visit the habitat locations. Such research gives scientists important information about the health of the environment and the educational opportunities this affords the 4-H youth are priceless. IWLA-PCC's display of the habitat monitoring equipment will be available to view during Soup Social as well.
Please join them for an evening of soup, conservation and fun! Follow Trackers 4-H Club on Facebook@Trackers4h or email Tracker leader Annette Hansen at fairymama16@gmail.com for more information on joining 4-H (K-12).
