Garfield Gazette

Family Edition

Week of October 11

Message from the Admin

Dear Garfield families,

We have had an exciting and wonderful start to our school year! Our teachers and staff are working on building relationships and community in the classrooms. Students are working on getting to know you activities. We are also particularly working on establishing routines and procedures so that students know our expectations and are ready to learn.

Office Hours

Our school office is now open and the office hours are 8:00-4:00pm. Entering the office, all visitors must:

  • wear a mask
  • have your temperature screened at the kiosk
  • use hand disinfectant when entering the office also at the kiosk

iReady Assesment

iReady testing is complete. Students have been working hard on their math, reading, and Spanish assessments. Teachers will be sharing results with their students so that students can know how they did.

COVID Testing Update

BAYPLS is Garfield's new provider for Covid testing.

Testing will occur onsite on Tuesdays from 10:15-12:15 and on Fridays from 1:30-4:30 for all students whose parents have signed a consent form. If you would like your student to participate in covid testing, please pick up a form in the office or go to https://my.primary.health/r/redwoodcity.

Gator Gear

Remember that the first Friday of the month is Gator Gear Day. Don't forget to show your school spirit!

If you ordered gator gear, you should have received it or be receiving it soon. We have a few extra items. If you would like to make a purchase, please stop by the family center to look at our selection.

Gator Student Store

Positive School Wide Discipline

Part of our School-Wide Positive Behavior Program is to make sure students know and follow the school-wide expectations in the Classroom, Playground, Hallways, Library, and Office. Students are to be:

  • Responsible
  • Respectful
  • Safe
  • Friendly and Caring
  • Focused and Ready to Learn

We will give out green Gator Tickets to students regularly to reinforce these expectations. These tickets can then be used to purchase small incentives and toys in the student store which is now open.

Student Store NOW OPEN

Beginning Oct 18, 2021 we will bring the Mobile Gator Store to your child’s classroom bi-weekly. This means students can use their Gator Tickets to shop for prizes during school hours.
