Principal's Newsletter
From the Desk of Russ Booth
November 26th, 2023
I hope everyone enjoyed a great Thanksgiving with family and friends! As we head into an extended stretch to the next holiday break we have a few things to celebrate and make note of. I want to extend my congratulations to the MHS cheer team on their recent success this past fall season. The team broke the school record for highest score at one of their competitions this fall season and they were a half point from qualifying for the national competition! Congrats to the team on a great season!
We are also 2 weeks away from opening night of our annual musical. This year the MHS theatre department is putting on "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," with opening night set for Friday, December 8th at 7pm. There will be 4 shows total (12/8 at 7pm, 12/9 at 1pm and 7pm, and 12/10 at 1pm). We hope everyone can get to one of the shows in support of our outstanding student performers.
One last thing I am excited to announce is regarding graduation. We recently heard back from The Xfinity Center regarding our requested date, and we are now locked in for Sunday, June 2nd. More information will follow, but I want to be sure all senior families have the date set for planning purposes.
I look forward to seeing everyone return from the extended weekend tomorrow, and I hope you all have a great week!

The Annual AFL-CIO Scholarship Program is in its 65th year. Through the
scholarship program, the Massachusetts AFL-CIO is honored to continue a long
tradition of helping students continue their education as they work toward creating
bright futures.
The Massachusetts AFL-CIO scholarship program awardees receive between $500
and $16,000 towards their education. Over 40 unions, central labor councils, area
businesses and charitable trusts from across Massachusetts participate in awarding
scholarships that total nearly half a million dollars. Unions in Massachusetts have
given close to $10 million in scholarships since 2000. About 1,500 students take the
exam annually to compete for a scholarship. Students with a union affiliation are
eligible for both the Massachusetts AFL-CIO awards and those awards listed under
their specific local union/central labor council. Massachusetts students who do not
have union affiliation are eligible for the Massachusetts AFL-CIO scholarships only.
