The Padilla Post 2/7/2022

February 7, 2022

Providing every student with the keys to open the doors of their future.

A Note from Principal Purfurst

Happy February Families! With February comes a change in the Tri-County Health Department's COVID-19 guidance. In particular, the mask mandate is no longer in place. As a result, students, staff members, and guests are encouraged but no longer required to wear a mask when inside the building. This change is welcomed for some, and scary for others. At Padilla we are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all. Regardless of whether or not you will be asking your child to wear a mask at school, we want to ensure that all students feel welcomed and safe at school. Please take a moment to discuss with your child the importance of ensuring that no student be made to feel bad regardless of whether or not they are wearing a mask at school starting this week.

Students who ride the bus will continue to be required to wear a mask as school busses fall under Federal Transportation Department requirements, which still require masks.

Thank you for your help in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment at Padilla for all of our students, staff members, and guests!

An Update from Dean Hawkins

Drills This Week:

There are no scheduled drills this week.

ACCESS Testing:

This is our final week of testing. We are currently making up tests for students that have been absent or are new to Padilla

CMAS Testing:

Schedules for grades 3,4,5 will be sent soon but we will begin testing all three grade levels on Wednesday the 6th of April. 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will be testing once a day for six sessions (three in English/Language Arts and three sessions in math). 5th Grade will also be testing in Science this year as well. We will be testing on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for the three week testing period with makeups to follow. Your student’s attendance is always important but even more so during these three weeks. We will be asking for help with student snacks during these testing sessions. More info to come about snacks!

CHILL Grade Level Assemblies March 29th:

During these assemblies we will be reviewing our CHILL Key expectations in addition to awarding our ARTIC Awards winning students for the third quarter. We will be streaming this assembly to parents that would like to take part (we will be letting parents know ahead of time if their student will be receiving an award!). We will also be using these assemblies to inform students about CMAS prizes etc. in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade.
