Dear Galvin Families,

May is Art month for the Canton Public Schools! We are very proud of our student artists here at GMS. Art class is a wonderful opportunity for students to exhibit various talents. To showcase student artwork, we have added several new display cases throughout the building. We hope you enjoy the pictures below which are examples of outstanding student artwork representing 6th, 7th, and 8th grade GMS artists.

GMS Summer Scholars

At Galvin Middle School, our program will target students entering grades 7 and 8 who did not make sufficient progress during the school year to pass one or more core academic courses and incoming grade 6 students who have identified academic and transition support needs. This program will allow them the opportunity to revisit the power standards in ELA, math, science and social studies with the goal of meeting the standards necessary to move on to the next grade with the foundation necessary for success next year.

GMS Summer Scholars program will run from July 18th- August 11th

Monday through Thursday from 8am-11am at GMS.

Students who are chosen to participate in the GMS Summer Scholars program will engage in a Project Based Learning experience called "Challenges." This PBL unit will be based on the essential question: How do people develop resilience when faced with challenges? Students will read two novels, engage in math centers, and create a final product that shows their learning. More information will be coming soon.

MCAS Dates

Below is the GMS MCAS schedule. Students should also have breakfast, be well rested on MCAS days and arrive on time to school.

Final transcripts will be forwarded upon the close of the school year in June. Chromebooks: Important Reminder

It is our students' responsibility to bring their charged Chromebook to school with them each day. We have a very limited number of loaners available and are using those to first support students who's Chromebooks aren't working. The Chromebook is an essential, daily, school supply. Please help your child come up with a process that allows them to have their device ready for school each day. Thank you.
