High School Students Return to 100% On-Site Learning on Monday, October 5
The Iowa Department of Education (DE) approved the school district's waiver to provide primarily remote or continuous learning at Lynnville-Sully High School for the period: September 24 - October 2, 2020. High school students will not need to make-up school days missed on Tuesday, September 22 or Wednesday, September 23. At this time, high school students not in quarantine will return to 100% onsite learning on Monday, October 5, 2020. High school activities will resume on Saturday, October 3.
Free Meal Pick-Up for L-S Absent Students
Beginning Wednesday, September 30, 2020, all Lynnville-Sully enrolled students who are absent from school may pick-up a free meal between 11:30 am - 11:40 am at the front entrance of the elementary/middle school. Meals will be brought out to your vehicle. Meals must be ordered by 8:00 am the day of meal pick-up.
If your child is absent due to sickness, COVID-19 quarantine, COVID-19 isolation, or any other reason, you may email or call Shelley Vander Molen before the 8:00 am the day of meal pick-up. Email Shelley: vandermolen@lshawks.com or call and leave a message: 641-594-4445 extension 133.
The free meal pick-up will be offered through December 31, 2020, or until federal funding is no longer available.
Homecoming 2020
Homecoming Week: October 5 – October 9. Mr. Shipley, High School Principal, and Mr. Vos, High School Student Council Advisor, worked with the high school student council to develop this year’s schedule. Due to social distancing, several activities will be removed or modified from this year’s Homecoming activities. High school students will not be dismissed during the school day to work on Homecoming activities like past years.
Brief summary of Homecoming schedule:
- Tuesday, October 6: Powder-Puff Volleyball in HS Gym at 7:30 pm (as normal)
- Wednesday, October 7: Powder-Puff Football at football field at 7:00 pm (as normal)
- Thursday, October 8: Pep Rally/Coronation at football field at 7:00 pm (as normal except location)
- Friday, October 9: No K-12 student parade, Football game vs. North Mahaska at 7:00 pm
COVID-19 Information (NEW)
In an effort to keep students, staff, families, and entire community aware of how COVID-19 is impacting our district, we plan to share information every week, while still protecting the privacy of those affected. Please note, this is a work in progress and our district will make adjustments and improvements as needed.
