11 Day Twitter Challenge
A Educator's Favorite Tool
Why Twitter?
Whether you have been on Twitter for years or have just started this year, this challenge will continue to expose the reason why Twitter is one of the best professional development tools available. While you are learning from other educators across the globe, you can also get a peek into other IUSD staff members' learning and classrooms by following our staff development - sharing resources with the hashtags #iusdcue16, #iusdedtech, and #irvineusd.
Day 1 - Join Twitter - Monday, March 7
Many IUSD colleagues are already on Twitter! Great Job!
If you are not, Day One is for you!
If you have already joined twitter, your challenge is to update your profile picture so it is not an "egg". No one wants to tweet with an egg. If you already have a profile picture in place, change it up with a new pic or background picture.
Day 2 - Google Hangout - Tuesday, March 8
I am watching the "CUE It Up" Information Hangout LIVE #iusdcue16
or
I will be watching the "CUE It Up" Information Hangout on demand #iusdcue16
Day 3 - #irvineusd Network - Wednesday, March 9
To complete this challenge all you need to do is let everyone know you are following along with the chat. (See example below)
Hi! I am Jon, 6th grade teacher at Canyon View Elementary. #irvineusd #iusdcue16
Of course, you would put your name and your position.
Day 4 - Share the Learning - Thursday, March 10
What are you hoping to gain by attending CUE? Share out one (or more than one) topic you intend on learning. Don't forget our hashtag #iusdcue16
Ex. Can't wait to see how other colleagues are using #3Dprinting in their classrooms #iusdcue16
Day 5 - Retweet the Learning - Friday, March 11
Here's a shortcut to our #iusdcue16 hashtag
Day 6 - Like the Learning - Monday, March 14
Find a tweet using the #iusdcue16, #iusdcue15, #cue16, or #irvineusd hashtag and like (heart) one that you like.
Day 7 - Mention a Colleague - Tuesday, March 15
To mention someone who is on Twitter you use the "@" symbol with their Twitter name.
For example:
@cvcalbear
To complete this challenge you will need to mention a colleague on Twitter who works at IUSD. Tell them hello, you'll see them at CUE, or thank them for being a great colleague. What you say is up to you. Just be sure to mention someone you work with.
Day 8 - Follow, Follow, Follow - Wednesday, March 16
Wow, you've made it through the first seven days of our 11 Days of Twitter Challenge. Only four more days remain. We know you've got it in you to begin with the end in mind and finish strong.
You have spent some time getting acquainted with Twitter and now it is time to increase who you follow. Using the hashtag #iusdcue16, find two IUSD staff members you do not currently follow and follow them.
Add yourself to this list of IUSD Twitter handles.
