From The Principal
We hope all of our Collins families had a great start to the new school year. We are approaching our first progress report snapshot. Grades will be uploaded on Friday, September 6th. Progress Report will be delivered electronically this school year. Parents should receive an email on Friday, September 13th stating the progress report is available in Parent Access Center (PAC).
Parent Access and CANVAS are critical tools to keep up to date on what is coming and how students performed. Attendance is another critical piece to students academic success. Thank you for your partnership as we grow and learn together this year.
That strong partnership is evident in our 2019 Accountability Summary. You will find the link to the report later in this newsletter. It is through our combined commitment to our children that make results like this possible. We are one of four other schools in Conroe Independent School district to earn five distinctions from the State of Texas.

Attendance
As we progress through the school year, please continue to remember the importance of school attendance and arriving to school on time. In addition, children who arrive late to school miss the important groundwork that is laid by teachers at the beginning of the day.
The instruction and learning that occur on a daily basis in the classroom is our central mission. Parents who make regular school attendance and punctuality a high priority are helping their children learn to accept responsibility, which is an important lesson for a successful life.
As we work to increase Collins Intermediate’s daily attendance – please continue to support your child’s educational process by limiting the amount of school missed except for illness. Collins Intermediate daily goal is 98.5%.
First Grading Period
Hours of Missed Instruction (Early Checkout) as of August 30th = 326 Hours
Nell Kendall, Nurse
Welcome back! I am looking forward to a happy, healthy year with our kids! Please remember, if your child needs medication at school, please do not send that medication with your student. School policy states the parents must drop off medications and fill out a permission form. THIS INCLUDES COUGH DROPS. Thank you!
Information from Mrs. McCure, Counselor
Parents/Guardians,
Please take the time to fill out the attached assistance letter if is applies to your family needs.
Orchestra
We are off to a great start in orchestra! All students should have their supplies and instruments so that they can participate in class and practice at home.
Students have a yellow page in the front of their binder with important dates and class expectations. This page will be the first page in each student’s binder all year. Parents and students should read and sign the page by August 27. Please sign into Canvas for orchestra to have access to the orchestra calendar and more information.
On Monday, August 26, cello and bass players received information about paying the maintenance fee for using the school instruments in class. It will also include a form to schedule which day to bring the home instrument to school for tuning.
We’re looking forward to a wonderful year!
