Quist ROYALS Weekly News
February 10, 2023
Hello ROYALS!
Happy National School Counseling Week to our counselors!
Mr. Miller - 8th grade; Ms. Muniz - 7th grade; Mr. Bonomo - 6th grade
Thank you for all the care, guidance, dedication and support you offer to each of our students.
We are better because of you!
It's been a great week here at Quist!
Heartfelt thanks to members of our parent group have made it their mission to stock our staff lounge with awesome snacks and treats. This was an amazing and welcomed surprise for our teachers.
With CMAS testing on the horizon, I wanted to remind families how you can support your student with their chromebook and charger. An important step to success in the classroom is having a charged chromebook. Please encourage your student to charge their chromebook nightly. Teachers don't have extra chromebook chargers in their classrooms, so students are encouraged to bring their charger to school and store it in their backpack, unless it needs to be used. We have noticed an uptick in chargers that are frayed and damaged. When this happens, or if the charger gets lost, your student can get a new one from the library. The fee is $30 and must be paid prior to getting the replacement. If your student's device is having an issue, please have them take it to the library for repair or to fill out an incident report.
This week we practiced a few safety drills - a lockdown drill and a fire drill. Overall both drills were successful and allowed students and staff the chance to re-familiarize themselves with our process so that in the event of an emergency, we can respond quickly, calmly and safely.
As we look forward to next week, I wanted to share a message on behalf of our National Junior Honor Society. They are collecting food for the Adams County Food Bank until February 17. Help those in need and bring non-perishable items into Pathways. The overall winning class wins an ice cream party. The best class at each grade level will get cupcakes.
Thank you for your continued partnership. Enjoy your weekend, do something that fills your bucket and brings you joy. We will see you all next week!
On behalf of the ROYALS Community,
Principal Norris-Buck

Questions about eligibility?
Eligibility is based on two different criteria - grades or RISE/ROAR. On Thursday of every week, eligibility will be pulled and determined by grades in classes. At this point, if a student has Cs/1 D which is considered not yet proficient on learning targets in any class, they are encouraged to obtain an eligibility rubric from their coach or the office. A student will be considered ineligible and unable to participate for the following reasons:
- Athlete has multiple Ds or 1 or more Fs in their classes.
- Athlete has an F in one or two classes and the rubric demonstrates a non-proficient rating in either class.
- Athlete who has multiple Ds or 1 or more Fs and fails to turn in a signed rubric to the coach.
- Athlete who is not demonstrating RISE/ROAD in their classes - behavior that results in either in-school or out-of-school suspension.
Eligibility rubrics allow students to rate themselves and conference with the teacher to determine if the student has demonstrated the learner behaviors to be a learner, even if their grade may not reflect that in the moment. The rubric needs to be completed in addition to eligible grades appearing in IC.
