The Hungate Echo
Sherburn Hungate Weekly News - Summer Term 2 - Issue 7
A word from Mr Broom.
Thank you also for the many wonderful report comments that celebrate the hard work of all our staff. They sincerely deserve it.
So what does next year bring? We've done so much this year. Shouldn't we just sit back and celebrate what we have? Absolutely not! We're moving up a gear in September and the teaching staff have been working together to secure exciting learning opportunities that we know the children will love.
I first wrote to you all on 5th September 2017 stating that we should celebrate our family and community around our school. I also stated then that I felt truly honoured to be the headteacher of the school and this sentiment has only grown this year. Long may it continue.
On behalf of the staff and governors, have a wonderful summer and we look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 4th September at 0845.

School Meal Information
We're introducing new lunch routines in September, aimed at maximising the time that children spend outside on active pursuits. During morning registration, the children will be given three choices. A hot meal, a jacket potato option and a sandwich option. The kitchen will then prepare a set meal to match the chosen option.
So what's different? Well there will be items on your child's plate that they may not have chosen before but we're hoping that we can foster a desire for a range of healthy lunch options with a balanced range of vegetables. Jam sandwiches will no longer be an option!

Attendance
Congratulations to our Year 2 & Year 5 children who are our attendance champions in school this week with 98.8%.
Our average attendance this week is 94.4%.
We have a small number of children whose attendance is well below the national expectations. These children are known as persistently absent when their attendance falls below 90%. I will be making telephone calls to parents of these children.
Thank you for your continued support with our attendance drive. It is really appreciated.
