In The Spirit of Thankful Thursdays!
For All You Do
Thank you so much for all you do;
You're truly a delight;
When my life overwhelms and does me in,
You make everything all right.

Continue Encouraging Students to Access Our Databases!
Gale is great for general research and opposing viewpoints, ABC CLIO is everything history and government, and the new ProQuest and Britannica Databases offer audio playback, Google Translate to any language, and access to primary sources. Students not only get access to high quality articles but also images, videos, recommended websites and more!
Want your EL students to utilize the databases? Britannica offers differentiated reading levels at the top of each article page. Click here for all of the links and passwords.
Stay tuned for some demos at the next Staff Meeting!
Want to Bring an Author's Voice into Your Classroom?
Check out the new teacher resource Teaching Books. We now have district access through the State of California. You can share specialized bookmarks, qr codes, and links with students via email, Google Classroom, Twitter, and more. Bookmarks and flyers can be translated into any language and printed or shared digitally. Students do not need passwords to access the links.
In the examples below students get to listen to Jason Reynolds talk about why he wrote Long Way Down and then hear him read excerpts from the book. How powerful for the students to hear and connect with the author! Want to listen? Click on the qr code and bookmark images below to try it out for yourself.
The Great Gatsby, 1984, Ender's Game, House on Mango Street, Macbeth, Fahrenheit 451, and more are available to listen to. Find the book you are teaching and engage your students even more by connecting them to the book in a new way!
Teaching about Civil Rights, want to inspire kids about history, science, art, Spanish, health, fitness, music, or math? Search by subject, grade, nonfiction, and more to find a way to connect with books in your content. Listen to these examples for inspiration: March, Marc Aronson on history, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Wake Up Our Souls: A Celebration of Black American Artists,
Eyes of the World: Robert Capa, Gerda Taro, and the Invention of Modern Photojournalism, Frida: Viva La Vida! Long Live Life!
Stay tuned for how to make an Educator's Account to start building your own "Lists" for students and for more demos at the next Staff Meeting.
