March 2022
From the Desk of Principal Anderson
Happy Almost Spring!
The school year just keeps chugging forward. This month starts out with a bang with 8th graders signing up for their high school of choice, starting March 2. The process is a bit different this year. Parent and student information nights are being offered by all high schools. There is also an FAQ. One can find all of this on the district website. Please help your student make an informed choice that fits his or her needs.
Time to move those clocks forward! The official date is Sunday, March 13th… and then a week later is the first day of Spring-looking for the daffodils!
The end of March are the final student-teacher conferences of the year. At this writing, our conferences will be virtual.
In closing, I would like to thank all our parents for the daily support provided. In so many cases, it comes down to parent involvement, supporting a learning environment-day in and day out-that really makes the difference in the success of a middle school student. We could not do it without you.
Sincerely,
Sherry Anderson
Celebrating Our Honor Roll Students
It has been great to be able to be back in person with our students at Franklin Middle School this year, and to get the chance to celebrate their accomplishments in person. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our students who have worked so hard this first semester and have achieved a 3.0 or better GPA! Congratulations to each of the students listed below!

Franklin Bolt February Contest
Students during the month of February were able to earn Bolts by demonstrating the Franklin Way, be respectful, be responsible, be safe, and place them in a weekly drawing to win a pizza party. The students that won were able to invite two of their friends and a staff member of their choice to celebrate with them. Check out the photos below of some of our winners.
March BOLT Challenge
For the month of March, students you can enter the weekly drawing for a MEGA BOLT that will be worth 50 bolts and can be used at the upcoming annual spring Franklin Middle School sidewalk sale. We will have a winner for each grade, every week in March. There will be special bolts that you will have to earn during March, they will be Academic Bolts. To earn them you will need to demonstrate academic responsibility. That could be improving your grades, helping a peer with their work, maintaining your good grades, participating in class and many other things.
QPR Training
Upcoming this week, Franklin Middle School along with ESD 105, is offering a valuable training for parents, staff and students regarding mental health.
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.
Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying "Yes" to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor.
The training will be provided in English on Wednesday, March 2nd from 6:00pm-7:00pm and in Spanish on Thursday, March 3rd from 6:00pm-7:00pm. Both meetings will be virtual. The links to the meetings are below.
Wrestling Scrimmage - Franklin Vs. Franklin
Though our seasons have their limitations this year, we are excited to be able to work on the wrestling skills of our young athletes. Franklin had their first scrimmage this past week. Below are some photos highlighting the event.
