Attention! Attention! Calling All Parents!

Would you like to be more involved with your child's after school activities? Do you have time to volunteer to help support Trexler's after school events? If you've answered YES, Trexler's PTO is seeking your membership, and they would love to see you at their next meeting on Monday, January 29th at 6:00pm in the cafeteria. From chaperoning dances to concession stands, the PTO supports Trexler in a variety of ways, and these efforts are only successful with the support of parent volunteers.

The PTO will operate Trexler's concession stand during home basketball games on January 30th and February 6th. Additionally, there is an after school dance on February 1st. Your help in working in the concession stand is greatly needed. Also, the PTO will begin planning the 8th Grade Falcon Finale at their next meeting. This event will take place on May 18th, and it truly is a night to remember. Come learn how to be a part of the magic.

*If you are unable to make the meeting or if you have questions, please contact Trexler's PTO at

Yearbook Sales

Next week is your last chance to reserve a Falcon yearbook for the low price of $35! Please turn in your yearbook order form and cash or check (made out to TMS) to the main office by January 31st. If you do not have an order form, they are available in the front office.

Benchmark Testing

With the end of the second grading period, students will participate in several district and/or state developed benchmark assessments. All students will be assessed in English/Language Arts and Mathematics. Eighth grade students will also participate in a Science Benchmark. Teachers are able to use the results of these formative assessments to help guide instruction and analyze the data provided from these tests to focus on areas of student need.

Trexler will administer benchmarks on the following days:
Monday, January 29th- 6th-8th Grade Math or Math 1
Tuesday, January 30th- 6th-8th Grade English/Language Arts
Wednesday, January 31st- 8th Grade Science

Students will test as early in the school day as possible, and our school will resume a modified schedule once testing has concluded. Please remind your student to bring their fully charged laptop with them each day of testing.

Report Cards and After School Tutoring

With the closing of the first semester, report cards will be sent home with your child on Thursday, February 1st. At the midway point in the school year, it is a good time for parents and students to reflect on the successes and struggles of the first half of the school year. If you have any concerns or questions regarding your child's performance, please call the school to schedule a conference.

Trexler would also like to remind parents that we offer a free after school tutoring program for students. The purpose of after school tutoring is to provide supplemental instruction and support in the core content areas; however, tutoring is not intended to serve as an opportunity to complete missing work. Tutoring is held every week through May 17th. All students are welcome to attend; however, prior parental permission is required. Parents may email the core teacher directly or fill out a tutoring form that is available at the school. All students need to have a ride available at 3:00pm, and everyone will be picked up in the front of the school.

The tutoring schedule is 2:15-3:00pm on the following days:
Monday: 6th Grade Science & Social Studies, 7th Grade Science, and 8th Grade ELA
Tuesday: 6th Grade ELA, 7th ELA, 8th Grade Math and Math 1
Wednesday: 6th Grade Math, 7th Grade Math, and 8th Grade Science
Thursday: 7th Grade Social Studies and 8th Grade Social Studies

AVID Spotlight

Did you know that your child can be entered for the chance to win a prize just for having an organized binder? Organization is a prerequisite for success, and Trexler wants to reward students that maintain an organized binder. Your child can be entered into a drawing for a cool prize if he or she follows five simple steps for binder maintenance. Click here to find the more about binder organization. The next AVID Binder Check is scheduled for January 30th.
