Board, Guests Tour Construction Projects

CSD Board members and other guests (including Lewis County Sheriff's Office staff) toured the construction projects at Fords Prairie and Centralia High School this morning.

Work continues to be on schedule and on budget at all three CSD construction sites. Work at the elementary schools has moved into the "drying-in" phase, with large heaters and fans helping to remove moisture. Roofing work continues on the gymnasiums at both schools. At CHS, demolition of the academic wing is almost complete, with framing of new walls expected to begin soon. A countdown timer in the CHS construction office reminds everyone involved that there are 252 days remaining until the expected completion date for phase 1.

Bond-Financed Security Upgrades Underway

Security upgrades financed by the voter-approved 2017 bond are underway at Edison, Washington, and Oakview. Access control systems are being installed at each school. These new systems will include a system that keeps exterior doors closed and locked unless a staff member approves visitor entry. Each school will have a video intercom system. Staff will also be able to lock down exterior doors with the push of a button in an emergency.

In the photo below, staff from Eubanks Glass and CSD's maintenance department work to install a second door in Oakview's foyer. This will create a secured vestibule where visitors will be out of the weather while waiting for approval to enter the building.

Holiday Fun at CSD!

We hope everyone has an amazing, fun, and safe winter break. Our staff can't wait to see everyone again in 2019.

The last day of school before break is always full of so much fun that it's hard to get to all of it to be able to share everything. But we have shared a few pictures of events from around the district on Thursday on our District Facebook page...
