Replacement Levy Rate Below the 7 Year Average

The $2.50 per $1,000 in assessed value rate of the replacement Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) levy is below the 7 year average of $2.66 per $1,000.

Election day is February 11, 2020.

Superintendent Search Status Update

Our partners from Northwest Leadership Associates met with various stakeholder focus groups on December 2nd and 3rd. During these meetings, they gathered input about the strengths and challenges perceived in our District, as well as what qualities our community desires in a new superintendent. The team will take this information to form interview questions and search criteria.

Search Status Update:

  • The superintendent opening is now posted on the Northwest Leadership Associates Website as well as the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) website and others.
  • The team will soon send out brochures to more than 3,000 candidate email addresses to announce the position opening.
  • Interviews will begin in January.
  • The team will be prepared to have a candidate to recommend for hire by the end of January. Once the position is offered, the board will begin contract negotiations with the selected candidate.
  • The new superintendent's official start date will be in June, 2020.

Superintendent Search Team Meets with CHS Student Leadership Class

The superintendent search team from Northwest Leadership Associates met with the Centralia High School Leadership class on December 2nd. The students were given a presentation about the process and had the same opportunity to provide input to the team as other stakeholder groups.

City Counselor/Local Attorney Visits CMS for Career Talk

Peter Abbarno, Centralia City Counselor and partner at Althauser Rayan Abbarno, LLP visited with Centralia Middle School Students on November 26th to discuss his path to becoming an attorney.

The lunchtime career talks at CMS are part of a drive to help open student minds to new career field possibilities they may not have considered. The visits are organized by the school's career counselor, Mrs. Hendrickson.

CHS Band Marches in Seattle Macy's Parade

Thank you to everyone who made the chilly trek from Centralia to downtown Seattle for the annual Macy's Parade on the 27th! The band appreciated the hometown support as they marched through the streets of Seattle.
