Message from the Superintendent

Dear Emery Community,

We are quickly approaching the end of the school year when we celebrate the achievements of all our students. Graduation is an exciting time for our school district. Right now, many of our students have received their college admission notices and career opportunities, and all are making big decisions about their futures.

It is a time filled with expectation for our students, and their accomplishments are thanks to the wonderful efforts of our teachers and staff at Emery Unified School District. Every day, our educators and staff arrive on campus ready to help our students grow and learn. It is a team effort and we are proud of our team!

We continue to keep safety a top priority at Emery. We encourage our families to remember our traffic safety guidelines, so that our community remains safe at all times. It is important to take care of one another, which is why COVID-19 prevention remains crucial as well. Stay home if you feel sick, and get tested for the coronavirus.

For a safe and inspiring learning environment, it’s essential that we work together and keep our community connected. Be sure to follow our Instagram account and like our Facebook page.

Thank you for your continued support.

Staff Appreciation

This month, we celebrate our Emery staff! The hard work that our teachers, administration and classified staff members contribute each day to our students’ academic achievement and personal excellence is much appreciated! Thank you to our entire Emery staff for their commitment to promoting a thriving educational experience.

May 1st is Principals Day, and May 2nd through May 6th is Teacher Appreciation Week! There’s so much to celebrate! Take some time to thank your principal and teacher(s). As a community, we have persevered through historic times, and our teachers and principals at Emery have continued to provide unrelenting guidance and quality education to our students.

May 16-20th is Classified School Employees Appreciation Week. Our day at Emery is not possible without the hard work of our office team, custodial team, bus drivers, food service team, counselors, therapists and campus supervisors. They keep our students and staff safe every day, and critically support Emery as a wonderful place to learn and grow.

We have a team that is committed to providing a safe and welcoming educational experience that challenges our students to achieve their goals and prepare for the future. Thank you to all our staff for your dedication to excellence.

Teacher of the Year

Ms. Illona Rhodes has been selected as Emery’s Teacher of the Year! Ms. Rhodes is an Education Specialist at Anna Yates Elementary School and has 33 years of teaching experience.

Ms. Rhodes’ teaching philosophy includes expecting each of her students to reach their highest individual potential. She partners with them to push past any perceived limitations and strive for success. Ms. Rhodes’ goal for all her students is to set and meet their academic and behavioral goals. Ultimately, she believes that every student is an important and unique individual and must be respected and treasured as such.

“Teaching is a work of art and Ms. Rhodes is certainly masterful at her craft,” shares Dr. Scott, Superintendent, about Ms. Rhodes. “Students love to learn from her, parents speak highly of her responsiveness, and her peers often praise her for her collaborative spirit and wisdom. We are proud to have Ms. Illona Rhodes in our district and it is with great honor that we congratulate her as Emery's Teacher of the Year!”

Congratulations Ms. Rhodes!
