Connect2Texas: Beam Experts to the Classroom Virtually
Inviting experts into the classroom is an excellent way to bring new meaning to a lesson. However, busy schedules and job requirements frequently prevent such experts from making in-person visits, and class field trips are not always practical due to money, time, or travel concerns.
Using Connect2Texas and its many partners for educational content eliminates the hassle. With Connect2Texas, it is easy to "beam in" the experts and performers into your classroom. Videoconferencing has become a part of everyday life and can dramatically improve the quality of a student’s learning experience as well as expand access to students in rural communities.
If you want to take advantage of Connect2Texas resources and “beam” us into your classroom, visit the Connect2Texas website for more information or contact Lori Hamm-Neckar.

Texas Lesson Study Program Underway in Region 11 with Two Districts
Denton ISD and Boyd ISD are participating in the Region 11 Texas Lesson Study (TXLS) program, a job-embedded, teacher-driven, collaborative learning experience designed to help educators become researchers of their own practice. Working with ESC Region 11 Instructional Content Coach Tenille Shade, teachers in the participating districts meet regularly as they progress through the five phases of the program.
Last school year, ESC Regions 6, 13, and 14 (in collaboration with Regions 5, 15, and 16) piloted the Lesson Study Professional Development Program as part of the TEA Strategic Plan 2017–2021, set forth by Commissioner Mike Morath. A similar program has been successfully implemented in California, Chicago, New York, and Florida.
With the TXLS, educators experience increased confidence, allowing districts to build an army of teacher leaders prepared to impact learning outcomes for students. Listen to a brief audio explanation of TXLS.
