Glenealy School Newsletter
11th June 2020
Message from Chris
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Another busy week has progressed well with children continuing to adapt well to the blended learning approach.
I want to thank parents for their positive feedback regarding the recent School Reports and the Zoom Parent conferences. In particular, this is the first time we have offered conferences by Zoom at the school, and it is the first time we have offered conferences at this stage of the year. Both seem to have been very well received. I would like to thank parents for their positive feedback and thank the teaching team for organising and running these so smoothly.
We will review our reporting process over the coming weeks and will send details about our ‘Meet the Teacher’, Parent Conferences, Three Way Conferences and Reports at the very beginning of next academic year.
Return of Loaned Chromebooks
Over the period of school site closure we took the step of loaning Chromebooks out to children to give added support with our distance learning model. We hope this initiative supported parents to a great extent at home.
We ask that all loaned Chromebooks be returned to the school by Friday 19th June - next week. Please return them to the School Office. We hope this loaned resource has been helpful for families during this time.
Yearbook 2020
I am delighted to share with you the good news that the Yearbook is currently with our printers and they should be ready for delivery in the last week of term.
For the first time, we have decided to offer the Yearbook free of charge to each child. These should be with you on either the 23rd or 24th of June - depending upon which day your child is learning in school.
PTA
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our PTA this year for all their support across the year. We held our final PTA committee meeting yesterday and it led me to reflect on what a positive difference the Committee make to the school community each year. I would like to thank the whole team. It takes a large time commitment and a huge amount of effort on the part of the PTA to arrange the various events during the year. Situation allowing, we are hoping for a full schedule of events next year and I very much look forward to celebrating with our great community.
Calendar for next year
For your convenience please find attached the final Calendar for next academic year.
Year 6 Exhibition
The Year 6 exhibition has been very successful so far. Our children have been blending their remote learning, on site learning as well as taking real action in the world. We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 children this year and the way they are exhibiting the skills, knowledge and attitudes acquired as a result of the curriculum programme. It is always such a pleasure to see how far the children have come and how mature they can be in their last year of primary school.
I am very much looking forward to their online Exhibition which will be held next week. You will see some of the causes they are supporting in this Newsletter.
I hope you all have a great rest of the week and a good weekend beyond.
Best Regards,
Chris.
Exhibition Special Edition
The Mindfulness Website
We are a group of Year 6 students - Aahana, Jay, Sienna and Michelle.
We are currently working on our Year 6 Exhibition project.
Because of the COVID-19, many countries are in lockdown, worldwide
economic recession, people are asked to work and stay at home and
school has been closed. We believe it affects many families and
people, particularly their emotions. There could be lots of conflicts
between parents and their children, because of too much electronics
for children, late sleeping and waking up times, complaints about meals as
there are not many choices for parents to buy food and children may whine
because they are not allowed to go out.
Therefore, we decided to design something fun for family and children.
We have designed our Website.
On the front page, you will hear a story about Mindfulness.
It also has three more pages, they are:
Guided Meditation, Family Activities and Kids Activities.
You can find something fun to enjoy from each page!
We are planning to share the Website today with the Glenealy Parents
(or more!) The Link to Website is:

Yours sincerely,

Hi I am Chloe from Year 6, and I am doing Year 6 Exhibition. I created this puppet show because I wanted to make an educational puppet for kids to enjoy.
I wanted to make sure that people could enjoy the puppet show and learn heaps of facts and stats. We are working towards helping little kids to look at the positive of Covid -19.This is the link for the Website. I hope you Enjoy!

Looking to get involved? Opportunities in the new school year
One of the things that makes Glenealy such a special school is its sense of community. There are many ways in which you can contribute. Why not become a Class Parent, join the PTA or help at one of the many events and fundraisers held over the course of the year? We welcome all new ideas and thoughts.
Become a Class Representative/Parent - Volunteering as class rep is a great way to help your child's school and get to know other parents. Class Parents are a central contact point between the PTA and your child’s class. In addition to communicating important information between the PTA and the class, Class Parents organize meet-ups for the parents/caregivers of all students in their class. You will work as a team of 2 per class. Please complete this form if you wish to put your name forward to be a Class Parent for your child's class.
Join the PTA - Bring your skills, ideas and enthusiasm to the heart of our school community. This highly rewarding role offers the opportunity for you to provide your input and help organise some fantastic events. Please contact Becky at pta@glenealy.net if you are interested in hearing more.
Important Reminder
Has your child's visa status changed?
As a reminder, all children attending an ESF school need the appropriate and valid visa status to do so. Please inform the school if your child's visa status changes. For more information, you may refer to the Immigration section on the ESF website.
Useful School Forms
