Jaguar Journal

March 19, 2020

Principal Post

Wow, how things have changed since our last Jaguar Journal. Currently staff are sharing a variety of resources and activities with families to work on while at home. Moving forward, Bloomingdale School District is creating more specific guidelines and suggestions for at home learning. As we move into next week, we will be providing more specific learning activities for students to complete. At this time please know that any & all learning activities are recommended but not required.

In an effort to stay connected with students, starting next week I am going to send out a daily announcement via email including a Flipgrid video. The announcements are very short and mirror what is shared on morning announcements. Please know that I am here for assistance and support. If you ever need anything, do not hesitate to reach out to me by phone 630-671-5255 or email at

Do you have medication at school that needs to be picked-up? Mrs. Chavez, building nurse, will be at DuJardin tomorrow from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm for parents needing to pick up medication. If this day/time does not work for you, please contact us at, 630-894-9200, or, to schedule another day/time for pick up.

Student grouping and placement for the 2020-2021 school year takes place in late May. In preparation for this important task a Student Placement Information form is available on this link. This request form is due back to Mr. Dwyer by Thursday, April 9th. Although a request form is not required, parent input about a child’s academic experiences can provide valuable insight to this process. Please remember that considerations for placing students in classes include but are not limited to class size, gender ratio, academic levels, student learning styles, specific student needs, diversity, and student peer relations. It is not recommended that a parent request a specific teacher due to the fact that requests are difficult to satisfy and teaching assignments can change from school year to school year. If you have questions about this form, please phone Mr. Mark Dwyer at 630-894-9200.

District 13 Website

This Friday, the District will post on our website, the most up-to-date information regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) as student safety continues to be our top priority. The District website will be updated as new information becomes available. Thank you.

It is not safe to walk between cars and in front of oncoming traffic

For the safety of our parents and students, we ask that you do not park your car and walk your child through the parking lot to the door. It is not safe. There are two lanes of traffic; one that stops to drop/pick up students and the other a passing lane. It is hard to see parents and students walking between cars when someone is driving in the passing lane. We ask that you stay in your car and use the drop off line. And as always pull all the way up to the DuJardin sign on Euclid.

A note from our Social Worker

During their classroom Second Step Lessons this year, 1st-5th graders have learned about flexible thinking as a way to solve problems and to cooperate with others. The "Unthinkables" give us rigid thinking and get us stuck so we can't solve a problem. The "Thinkables" help us to have flexible thinking, which help us to solve problems and get along with others. Ask your child about what they remember about the "Unthinkables" and "Thinkables".
