PTA News
We Want YOU! PTA Board Members for 2019-2020!
Want to get more involved at Trillium Creek? Take on a different volunteer role? Be creative and make a difference in your child’s school? TCPS PTA has THE opportunity for you! Every year we vote in a PTA Board- President, Vice President(s), Treasurer(s), Secretary, and Advisor. We will have returning Board Members, but are in need of a Treasurer, and a Secretary as these Board Members’ 2-year terms have, sadly, come to an end. Please contact PTA President, Christy Riehm, or any other Board Member to get more information. We are not your stereotypical PTA Board, we are not scary, and we actually get along and have fun! We have a lot of cool ideas for next year and want you to be a part of it! A conversation does not equal a commitment so feel free to just inquire. Thank you for considering to serve!
For Kindergarten Parents....
If you have a kindergartner here at Trillium, please read the attached letter about the dyslexia screening that will be taking place the next few weeks here at Trillium. If you have any questions please email Kate Donegan at donegank@wlwv.k12.or.us
CREST-Jane Goodall Science Symposium
- Who: all primary school students who have a science or engineering project to share with our community, and who might be interested in learning about how they can continue doing science and engineering as they get older.
- What: Come set up your project display and enjoy the Discovery Center! We are going to have the high school robotics team there doing demonstrations, CREST will be there with animals and activities, and there will be tables where primary school students can show off their projects to the other students and community members who come to the Symposium.
- When: March 5th, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
- Where: Wilsonville High School Commons and Auxiliary Gym
- Why: We want our young scientists to have another opportunity to demonstrate to the world all that they learned doing a science fair project. Benefits to the students include: a ribbon for participating in our district-wide fair, the potential to meet other students from around the district who have the same interests, a chance to learn more about the K-12th grade science fair experience in our district, and check out some of the amazing high school projects!

Oregon Assessment Information for 2018-2019
Please see the attached information if you want to know more about Oregon's 2018-2019 English Language Arts and Mathematics Assessments and for the form for opting out of assessments. The form is attached to the bottom of the Tweet.
For all other statewide assessments (OSAS Online Science, ELPA Summative, the Kindergarten Assessment, and the ORExt Science Assessment), parents may request that their student be exempted from state testing based on either disability or religion. OAR 581-022-1910 allows school districts to excuse students from a state required program or learning activity, including state testing, to accommodate a student’s disabilities or religious beliefs. In order for a school district to excuse a student from testing under this rule, the student’s parent must submit a written request to the school district, listing the reasons for the request and proposing an alternative individualized learning activity for the student that meets the same goals that would be accomplished by participation in state testing. GREEN GREETINGS
More than 180 million cards are exchanged on Valentine's Day. Since paper is made of trees, and paper mills use immense amounts of water and emit tons of chemicals, imagine the impact it would make if all those cards were recycled or electronic. Even recycled cards, though, end up in the landfill, where they emit methane as they decompose. One alternative is to make a card out of old magazines and wall calendars. Another is to give a card made of plantable seed paper; bury it and when the paper biodegrades, the seeds grow into wildflowers.
LET LOVE BLOSSOM by giving organic flowers or a plant instead
