Good Fats

  • monounsaturated fats are fats molecules that have one unsaturated carbon bond in the molecule, this is also called a double bond.
  • Polyunsaturated fat can be found mostly in nuts, seeds, fish, algae, and krill
  • Fats help us even if we think it hurts us WE need fats
  • Olive oil is the best type of fat that you can have that is good for you

Bad Fats

  • A saturated fat is a fat that consists of triglycerides containing only saturated fatty acids
  • trans fat and saturated fats are not good for you because they increase your risk of disease and elevate cholesterol
  • The American Heart Association recommends that we get 20% to 35% of our calories from fat.But we get 34% or more fats in out diet



  • MUFAs and PUFAs may help lower your risk of heart disease.
  • MUFAs have been found to lower your total cholesterol.
  • If your diet replaces saturated and trans fats with unsaturated fats such as MUFAs and PUFAs you may gain certain health benefits.
