An Update on Building Goals
Monday, December 28, 2020
Dear ARK Family,
We have a 1, 3 and 5 year plan, but I find that goal attainment is much more likely when building objectives and key results are measured in 12 week increments. 12 weeks allows for enough time to work toward goals and it's short enough not to allow us to lose sight of our objectives and key results.
A Brief Overview of Each Building Objective and Key Results (OKRs)
Objective 1: Cultural Proficiency/ Equity/ Character Education
- Cultural Proficiency PD for ALL staff
- Restorative Justice Committee planning and training opportunities
- CP survey implementation and data analysis into action
Objective 2: Voice, Choice and Passion for Learning
- Aspirations Team Planning and PD for all staff
- Staff Survey and focus groups
- Student Survey
- Creating a Radically Candid Culture
Objective 3: Belonging
- Positive video/audio/phone call home -- all staff
- Birthday messages to every student
- #GoodNewsZoomoftheDay
- Core Values Recognition Cards
- Grit and Perseverance Cards -- end of each marking period
Objective 1: Support Staff Growth with Cultural Proficiency/Equity/Character Education -- UPDATE
There is much to celebrate and be proud of for the 2nd Quarter Sprint.
Accomplishments:
- Added Donna Morocco and Rachel Haine to the CPECE Team. Both Donna and Rachel are passionate about the work and very willing to take on additional responsibilities to serve our school community.
- Planned and implemented 2 hours of PD for certificated staff
- Planned and implemented 3 hours of PD for non-certificated staff
- 5 total hours of PD delivered over a 12 week quarter -- Very impressive work by our CP team
- Created a staff CP survey
- Formed a Restorative Justice Committee (Rebecca Forrest & Lindsey Abesh)
Areas Needing Attention for the 3rd Quarter Sprint (January 1 to March 31, 2021):
- We have 5 CP PD sessions scheduled for certificated staff, but need to schedule additional PD sessions for non-certificated staff. We will continue to have non-certificated staff PDs just for non-certificated staff, but want to begin scheduling PD sessions with all staff at the same time.
- Schedule at least 2 hours of PD for non-certificated staff between January 1 and March 31. One PD session will be scheduled between January 4th and January 15th.
- We need to schedule a time for all staff to complete CP survey and for CP team to analyze data, share results with staff and develop an action plan -- we administered it, but only 15 staff members completed the survey.
- Revisit, remind students, families and staff WHY we returned to the old helmet logo and the process that was taken to make the decision.
- Provide additional planning time, training and resources for Restorative Justice Committee.
Objective 2: Develop highly engaging, learning-centered experiences (adults & students) within an environment that promotes voice, choice and passion for learning -- UPDATE
Once again, much to celebrate for accomplishments during the 2nd Quarter Sprint (October 1 to December 31, 2020.
- Aspirations Team was provided 4 hours of planning time during the 2nd Quarter Sprint and we have 3 hours of planning time scheduled for the 3rd Quarter Sprint. If it matters, we have to have it on the calendar and we do!
- 1.5 hours of PD for all staff (surveys, shared results of survey) and we have 4 hours of PD scheduled for the remainder of the year.
- We've established a New Teacher Mentoring Committee (Denise Craft, Melissa Bergstrom, Brigid Sullivan and Jane Rickansrud) and they have already begun planning sessions.
Areas in Need of Attention for the 3rd Quarter Sprint:
- We need to make a decision on whether or not we will be administering the i-KnowMyStudents Survey. If we do, it should be administered by the end of February 2021.
- Schedule, plan and deliver additional PD for Radical Candor
- Town Hall Meeting Scheduled for January 25, 2021: Develop essential agreements, roles and logistics for Town Hall meetings -- staff need to understand the purpose for these meetings and how they will be used to increase staff voice.
- Staff focus group scheduled for January 11, 2021
- Planning for creating a radically candid culture has begun and PD has been scheduled for 2/12 Inservice Day
- New Teacher Mentoring Committee -- add meeting dates to the Outlook Calendar for the remainder of the year and invite attendees.
Objective 3: Ensure that all staff, families and students feel they belong and are welcome -- UPDATE
