Word of the Week: Ingenuity

When you invent new ways to have school in a Pandemic, you learn a few things about ingenuity. If there’s a silver lining, it’s this! How do you have a whole class wash their hands when they come in from recess? Our staff’s ingenuity led to inventive routines that worked, were efficient, and were sanitary. How do you have students learn at home? How do you temperature check 150 students in a few minutes? How do you teach students who are sitting behind plexiglass barriers? How do you ensure the bathrooms have only two people in them at a time? How do you line up in the hallway and maintain social distancing? The puzzles this year were huge and seemingly endless. Again and again, the teachers and staff at UPE modeled the highest levels of ingenuity and creativity to find ways to ensure children were learning in person, in meaningful ways, and connecting to each other authentically. We are very proud of our whole community and our staff for deepening this ingenious learning all year long!

Enjoy this video about ingenuity. And remember, everything is “figure-out-able!!”
