Car riders are picked up behind the school until 3:20. If you arrive late to Brewer (after 3:20) you must pick up at the front of the school
Social Studies
Students will create a study guide and a test on prehistoric man. They will begin a unit of study on Mesopotamia
Drama
Drama students learned about the different types of performance spaces this week, and created a poster differentiating each. Please see pictures of some of their work! We are now beginning to learn about production positions and the chain-of-command within professional theatres. Students will have a quiz at the end of next week on these roles.
Creative Writing
Creative Writers will be working with word choice and how to select words for writing. Our emphasis will continue to be on poetry.
Strings
I hope you all have a great weekend! Next week we will work on half notes, 3/4 time, and ties/slurs!
Math
6th grade math students are completing their study of factors and multiples. (chapter 2). We had our first quiz this week and grades are posted to powerschool. We will have MAP testing next week and we will have our chapter 2 test towards the end of next week. The vast majority of test questions will come from the students homework. As we do not yet have chrome books, I will send of the homework answer keys via remind. and will attach them to this email. Students who practice the homework problems typically do well.
Science
The students will be critically analyzing scientific arguments based on evidence for and against how different phenomena (natural and human induced) may contribute to the composition of Earth’s atmosphere. They will also construct explanations of the processes involved in the cycling of water through Earth’s systems (including transpiration, evaporation, condensation and crystallization, precipitation, and downhill flow of water on land.) There will be a quiz on the layers of the atmosphere Thursday the 6th.
Language Arts
This week we will continue our study of sentences. We will have test next week.
We will begin reading Island of the Blue Dolphin.
Stems begin this week. Test will be on Tuesdays.
