FALL 2015 LIBRARY UPDATES
BrowZine
BrowZine, the app that allows you to stay updated on your favorite journals is now available for most tablets and smartphones. Browse complete journals and access PDFs of journals without having to log in through the library. Get alerts when new issues are published. App available in the iTunes or Google Play stores.
Use Persistant & Proxied URLs in Canvas
The library recently switched how we formulate permanent links for off-campus access. If you use library links in your classes I am happy to assist you in checking and updating them as needed.
If you upload article PDFs for your courses, please consider using persistent and proxied URLs as a replacement. They help us track usage of our resources to make sure in-demand items get renewed. Contact me if you would like assistance finding these links for resources or use our handy guide: http://libguides.bgsu.edu/persistentlinks

Ithaka
BGSU will be a participating institution in the 2015 Ithaka Faculty Survey. Ithaka is the not-for-profit organization that you may better know through their journal archiving platform, JSTOR.
The project is a regularly repeated in-depth survey of faculty needs regarding libraries and related research and teaching activities. The results will help inform the future development of library services at BGSU and nationally. You will receive an email invitation to participate in the survey in the coming weeks. To learn more, check out the 2012 report: http://www.sr.ithaka.org/research-publications/us-faculty-survey-2012

Library Instruction Services
A Librarian in Canvas
I can create direct links to library databases and supporting materials and embed them directly in your Canvas course site for easy access by your students. I'm also interested in exploring more in-depth course collaborations. Alternatively, I can create a customized library guide for your course outside of Canvas.
On Demand at the Research & Information Desk
Our Research & Information Desk is staffed by librarians and/or trained undergraduate peers assistants 80 hours a week, including nights and weekends. We can provide drop-in library assistance in person, via chat, phone, or text. Visit our Ask Us! page for details. https://www.bgsu.edu/library/ask-us.html
Individual Research Appointments
Consultations are available for students and faculty. Appointments can be booked with me directly: https://veralux.youcanbook.me/ or with any available librarian for a wider availability: https://ira.youcanbook.me/
In-Class Library Session
We can tailor a library session to your course needs, either located in the library or in your classroom. Library sessions can also be combined with a presentation from The Learning Commons to promote their services or provide a refresher/introduction to a particular citation style.
