5th Grade Parent Nights
This year, DES is trying to support parents and students with the transition to middle school by hosting a series of 5th Grade Parent Nights. On these nights, we will discuss transition in all forms: physical; mental; social media; and emotional (both parents and children!).
Our 5th Grade Parent Nights are tentatively scheduled monthly in the new year beginning at 6:30 PM. I hope you will join us for all or any of these nights as the topics shared will be dictated by those who attend. Here are the dates planned:
• January 15: 6:30 PM
• February 11: 6:30 PM
• March 12: 6:30 PM
• April 14: 6:30 PM
• May 14: 6:30 PM
• June 2: 6:30 PM (if needed to finalize party plans)
• June 12: 6:30 PM 5th Grade Party!
I hope you will join us for one or all of these informative nights!
Way to Go First Grade! Your Attendance is Outstanding!
Conratulations to the first grade for having the highest attendance rate during December! With 15 days of school, first graders were in attendance 94.9% of the days! Great job! The other grades were close with these percentages:
PreK: 92.3%
Kindergarten: 93.7%
2nd Grade: 93.8%
3rd Grade: 93.5%
4th Grade: 92.3%
5th Grade: 93.3%
Total School: 93.5%
In 2020, we will begin honoring and recognizing students and staff who have perfect attendance. Perfect attendance is being present for the entire day with no tardies or early dismissals during the specified period. DES is blessed with a number of students who have perfect attendance and deserve recognition for their efforts to be at school every day.
