Dangerous Situation - Late addition to the Round-Up
Please do not park on Maple between the crosswalk signs. This is actually a Town of Gilbert requirement, and something that violators can be ticketed for by GPD. There should be no vehicles stopped, standing or parked on Maple between the crosswalk signs. Vehicles exiting the pick up driveway need space. Congestion near the crosswalk is also not safe for students crossing.
I am asking everyone to please honor this request. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

PTSO elections will take place at their May meeting. If you are interested in helping out this amazing group of people, please email us. There are a lot of different ways to help, and holding a position does not mean that all the responsibility falls to you. It truly is a team that works super hard for the benefit of the students and staff at Sonoma Ranch.
We would love for you to consider helping us. Please send us an email at sreptso@gmail.com and we will reach out to you about different ways you can help make the Ranch a great place to teach and learn.
Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is May 3rd-7th! Would you like to sponsor a gift your child’s teacher or any staff member at SRE? Please visit www.sonomaranchptso.com to find out more and to make a donation! Any questions, please email sreptso@gmail.com

Testing information
Our students have been preparing for these tests every day of the school year. There is no need to panic or feel like cramming will help the outcome. The best way to support your student(s) is to make sure they are rested, at school on time, well fed and confident in their abilities. You can certainly remind your student(s) these tests are not timed, so they do not need to hurry to complete them.
Many grade levels will begin testing shortly after announcements in the morning. It is imperative your child is here on time. Once the tests are started, no students may enter the room. We don’t want to keep any students in a holding room while the others finish that section.
If your student feels sick before coming to school, consider keeping them at home. Once a student begins the testing session, their test becomes active. If they leave the class due to illness or an appointment, they will not have the opportunity to finish it. Since their incomplete test will be scored as is, it will not give a fair indication of what they’ve learned. Make up testing will be offered. We’d rather have your student be healthy and take the test during make-ups, than take the test while sick during the assigned testing day.
Electronics are not allowed to be on during testing. All phones/smart watches will need to be in backpacks or they will be collected at the start of the exams. If your student usually has a phone with them at school I would encourage you to keep it at home on testing days.
Although Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Graders do not participate in the state testing, we are trying to prepare them for what is to come for them. It is important for them to realize they can help the other students do their best by respecting the testing atmosphere and being quiet in the hallways.

Lunch (and breakfast) is Free
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended free meals for children 18 years and younger until further notice to help ensure all children have access to nutritious food as the country recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gilbert Public Schools will provide combo meals at no cost to students for breakfast and lunch. A combo meal includes an entree, fruit and/or vegetable and beverage (milk and/or juice).
We certainly encourage our families to take advantage of this opportunity.
