Connecting with the Counselor
The goal is to be GREEN! While it is okay, and expected, to find yourself in the Red, Yellow and Blue Zone, our goal is to be in the Green Zone as much as possible. This week, students learned about Mindfulness and filled their toolbox with different Mindfulness strategies to help them get back to that Green Zone when they might find themselves in Red or Yellow.
Ask your student...
1. What were some of the Mindfulness strategies that you learned about this week? Which one was your favorite?
2. I would encourage you when your student is upset to encourage them to use one of those calming strategies to get back to the Green Zone.
6th, 7th, 8th Grade
As part of our Self-Efficacy Unit, students are learning about a Fixed VS a Growth Mindset. I have linked some of the videos that we have watched below. I would really encourage you to adopt some of this Growth Mindset vocabulary in your own home when talking to your students about struggles and failures.
School Counseling Week
This week has been National School Counseling Week! I'd like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU for sharing your students with me. Here is an infographic that explains the roles and responsibilities of a school counselor. I always say that it takes a village, and I'm honored to be a part of yours.
