Week of October 4 - 8, 2021
Hello Ramsey Ramilies!
We are already into October, I want to thank you again for your patience during the start of the school year. Your support has made the transition back into full in-person learning as seamless as possible.
October brings Mid-Quarter 1 Conferences, which will be virtual to help minimize the spread of COVID-19. Mid-Quarter 1 Conferences will be held on Thursday, Oct 14th and Tuesday, October 19th from 4:00-7:00pm. More information about Fall Conferences will be sent out soon.
Again, please feel free to reach out to me with questions and concerns via email email@example.com.
Information from the office
Lunch delivery for students: If your student requires a lunch, please send it with them in the morning. Food delivered from restaurants, Uber eats, Doordash, etc. will not be allowed. We have limited office staff who are not able to support this. Thank you for your understanding.
- Students who need school bus transportation home, should immediately board buses on the Summit Avenue. Students should not be crossing Grand Avenue for snacks and beverages as they are to MASK UP on buses and eating/drinking on school buses is not allowed.
- Students staying after school for athletics and FLIPSIDE also need to remain on site and go directly to their activity location. Students should not be crossing Grand Avenue to visit local businesses for snacks and beverages. Students who leave the Ramsey school campus are not eligible to participate that afternoon.
Your student's safety is extremely important and when students leave the school grounds, we cannot ensure their safety. Please make sure your student understands the importance of remaining on school grounds.
Buses have been running more smoothly each day, thank you again for your understanding.
REMINDER: All students riding a bus to and from school must wear a mask over their mouth and nose while on the school bus.

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) Updates
We are all Stronger when We Work Together!
It’s October and this means we are starting our formal push for donations. We want our fundraising done before the end of the month!. We want to dedicate our focus, time, energy and resources on engaging and supporting our community, the real work! Help us reach our goals so we can stop asking you for money this year.
We need your help if we are going to reach our goals. We can not do this without your support.
500 Total Donations
Average $25/student for the year (< $3 a month for the school year)
Only 1 fundraising campaign (this one) for the entire year!
Every penny helps, there are no minimum donations so please give what you can. If we all participate, we can share the load together.
If you are unable to donate, please share our campaign with your network and help us reach more people!
All Donations are Tax Deductible and they allow us to provide:
Counseling and Nursing office Supplies (Tissues, Band-aids, etc...)
Books for the Library
Student Programs (AVID, WEB, Dare 2 Be Real and more)
Field Trips (8th Grade Valley Fair trip, Bus expenses and other participation costs)
Volunteer Background Checks
Community Engagement (Yearbooks, Student T-Shirts, Childcare and Food at PTO Meetings, Staff Appreciation)
Community (Staff, Student and/or Parent) Requests for supplies or events to enrich our students' experiences.
We know you have a lot of demands for where you spend your money. We hope you invest in our Ramsey Community by donating and asking your network to support you with a small donation as well.
Please join the conversations on our Ramsey Facebook Group and visit us at our Monthly PTO meeting.
We can't thank you enough for your support, it means everything. We cannot do this without you. Thank you for being an active participant of our PTO and our Ramsey Community.
Stay safe and stay healthy,
As partners in your child's literacy development, we are excited to update you as students are building community & relationships in their classes AND building their reading lives across the school day. Your scholars have been choosing texts/books to read with their identity in mind, setting reading goals, and beginning to build reading stamina and volume. You might ask your child what texts/books they have been reading both in school and outside of school and how they chose what to read.
Security on New iPads
SPPS iPads have additional WiFi security settings this year. This is great news for parents, students, and staff. Websites like Facebook, Instagram and other non-academic websites cannot be accessed from SPPS WiFi. These websites will also be blocked on WIFI networks outside of school.
If you find your student needs additional limitations such as time limits or blocking types of sites, please let me know. I can send you the directions to set up Screen Time on the iPad.
Please note that many staff members use YouTube videos as part of teaching and learning. For that reason, YouTube should not be blocked on the student iPads.
If you have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
