The Anthony Express
Weekly School Newsletter 10/23/2020
Notes from Mr. Kessler
Dear Anthony Families,
It is hard to believe we have completed an entire quarter of school! Students have done a great job of social distancing and wearing face masks. We want to thank all of our families for helping to support our covid safety precautions.
Since we have different learning models, here are the dates that grades cards will be sent home with students:
In-person grades 1-4, grade cards will be sent home on Thursday, October 29th.
Rigorous Remote grades 1-4, grade cards will be sent home in learning kits on Friday, October 30th.
All PreK/Kinddergarten grade cards and kindergarten checklists will be sent home on Friday, November 6th. PreK/Kindergarten receives a report card at each trimester, not each quarter.
Finally, fall parties will be next Friday, October 30th. Please read the information in the newsletter below for more details regarding our fall parties.

Parents may send in treats or snacks on the day of the party. The following guidelines apply:
1. Treats must be store bought and individually wrapped. This includes cupcakes, donuts, etc.
2. Treats must be approved by the classroom teacher.
3. Treats will only be passed out by the classroom teacher.
If you do not wish for your child to participate in the fall party, or do not want your child to receive treats, please contact your child's teacher.
Since this will be one of the most unusual fall parties due to the pandemic, we want to give students multiple ways to dress up on Friday, October 30th.
1. Wear a Halloween costume, following our costume guidelines.
2. Wear fall colors such as yellow, orange, red and brown.
3. Wear spirit wear such as Chiefs gear or Pioneer gear.
If choosing to wear a costume, follow the following guidelines:
Costumes should be “student” appropriate and not display or contain the following items:
Any real or fake weapon or weapon like device
Spikes, sharp edges, or protruding metal pieces that may harm someone.
Masks that are grotesque, gory, scary, or make it difficult for the student to see out of.
Blood, guts, or “fake open wounds” may not be appropriate and should not be used.
Inappropriate sayings, words, or pictures indicating death, killing, or physical harm to someone.
No face paint or “spray” hair dye that may rub off onto school materials and property.
Please use your creativity and make the costumes fun and entertaining. Remember that we have a wide range of students in our building from age four up. If you have questions please contact the school office as soon as possible.
We will not be “changing into costumes” in the restrooms as part of our Fall Party – costumes need to be able to be put on over clothes (if worn during the day, they should not interrupt instruction).
Rigorous Remote Learners
Rigorous Remote teachers grades 1-4 will send home grade cards in the learning kits on Friday, October 30th. If you do not pick up a learning kit, the grade card will be emailed home.
Kindergarten Rigorous Remote 1st Trimester grade cards and kindergartent checklist will be sent home Friday, November 6th.
