A Year of Transformation

Our theme verse this year was Romans 12:2.

"Don’t be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you can figure out what God’s will is — what is good and pleasing and mature."

As we finish this year we have seen your students transform into what God would want them to be. We are so proud of our students and we are so thankful to our families for all their support.

Praying that you have a safe and relaxing summer.

Fort Myers Christian School Parent Satisfaction Survey 22-23 Results Summary

We are grateful for every parent partner who took the time and effort to share their personal experiences as an FMCS family through participation in our recent 22-23 Parent Satisfaction Survey. Your thoughts, feedback, concerns, criticisms and praises were individually read, recorded, and considered. These results will be presented to our School Board in a formal report and will also be utilized in planning and implementing FMCS’ Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP), in partnership with our accreditation through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI.) Below is a brief summary of our survey findings.

The FMCS Parent Satisfaction Survey was sent to 224 parent respondents (every parent in our school.) The survey contained 29 questions relating to quality and satisfaction of FMCS’ educational programs, curriculum, fine arts, athletics, lunch, aftercare, health, safety and security, student involvement, events, facilities and equipment, spiritual growth, diversity, communication, and faculty and staff. Respondents answered questions ranging in level of satisfaction (very satisfied; satisfied; neither satisfied nor dissatisfied; dissatisfied; very dissatisfied); level of agreement (strongly agree; agree; neither agree nor disagree; disagree; strongly disagree); and short answer.

Findings

82 parents completed the survey, which represents opinions and feedback of approximately 36% of our parent partners.

Non short-answer selections (22 questions):

Respondents answered in the majority positive, meaning 78% of respondents, on average, selected “Very Satisfied, Satisfied, Strongly Agree, or Agree” when responding to all selections.

On average, only 6% of respondents selected “Very dissatisfied, dissatisfied, strongly disagree or disagree” to selections.

Only one question on the survey received no disagree or strongly disagree sentiments as a response from ALL 82 respondents. Respondents to this statement emphatically agreed:

“FMCS has spiritual foundation and biblical integration in all they say and do.”

Greatest areas of concern/need for growth, as expressed through a response of dissatisfaction, included:

1. our school’s lunch program (12%)

2. communication of school’s approach to discipline (14%)

3. developmentally appropriate curriculum (9%)

4. time spent on homework (13%)

5. quality of athletic programming (14%)

Areas of highest achievement and parent satisfaction included:

1. skilled teachers (89%)

2. open communication and positive relationships with teachers (91%)

3. comfort in communicating student problems or concerns to teachers (87%)

4. teacher responsiveness to messages (89%)

5. spiritual foundation and biblical integration at FMCS (96%)

Questions that received the highest number of neutral responses, “Neither satisfied or dissatisfied, Neither Agree or Disagree” included

1. satisfaction with the school lunch program (46%)

2. fine arts offerings (16%)

3. quality of athletics (21%)

4. satisfaction with aftercare program (36%)

These answers are likely a reflection of the respondents lack of opinion of these areas due to infrequent or non-use of programs. Overall, 85% of respondents are satisfied or very satisfied with the overall quality of Fort Myers Christian School.

Short-answer selections (8 questions)

Respondents overwhelmingly discussed highest satisfaction of FMCS in primary areas of

1. Christian faith and values

2. faith integration; spiritual foundation and biblical principles

3. smaller class sizes

4. family atmosphere

5. quality of teachers

6. relationship to teachers and staff

Parents also shared about ways their child has been positively impacted through faith integration; and their favorite FMCS events of the school year. A large majority of respondents positively commented on the addition of the spring musical as well as the school Christmas concert.

Areas that respondents would like to see prioritized by school leadership predominately made mention of improvement of:

1. safety and security measures on campus

2. lunch program

3. aftercare

4. extracurricular offerings

4. athletics

5. foreign language offering

6. increasing sibling discounts and scholarship availability

Feedback was also provided on improvement of the family’s experience at FMCS. Ideas included technology training for new families in Seesaw and FACTS; streamlining communication; addition of tutoring services; and implementing regular family nights for social integration.

Thank you to all of you that took the time to fill out the survey. We taking this information and we are making changes to improve FMCS. More information about these changes will be in the next newsletters over the summer.
