What's Happening at Kidz Count?
Hello from Summer Kidz Count! We are having a blast doing different summer activities and learning new things. We have connected with Embrace Run Project and they are coming once a week to do different activities with us, including a water slide, putting in a garden, and bringing a soccer clinic/games once a week. We also have Girl Scouts doing outside activities with us and also the Washington Pavilion coming once a week to do STEM activities with some of our youth. They are going to make a robot in the end!
In the afternoons, we transport everyone who's 7 and over to the youth center, which is another VOA Out of School time program, and go on field trips to the pool, parks, sometimes the library and other outdoor adventures. We are getting lunches from the summer lunch programs given by Embe.
We so appreciate the support and the opportunity to have the program here at Wesley and keep supporting the neighborhood families with care for our children. This is an ongoing ministry that gives so much to so many families, including academic support, social emotional learning, community resources and more.
As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, or want to volunteer, please contact me at 605-906-2736, or email me at s.larson@voa-dakotas.org. Thank you!
Saundra Larson, Kidz Count Coordinator, VOA Dakotas.
HyVee Cards
Doug and Marcy Bird (336-8828) continue to serve Wesley and United Methodist Women by selling HyVee cards. We receive 5% of the cost of the cards. The funds have helped us upgrade the bathrooms in the building and also help UMW pay our pledge.
United Methodist Women
The evening circle will continue to meet. Our next meeting is July 15 in the Parlor. Now that most of us are vaccinated against COVID-19 it is safe for us to meet in person with or without masks (individual preference). We have an awesome group of women who laugh and pray together as we work to understand what God has in mind for us and our church family. Come join us.

Advance Care Planning:
It’s About the Conversation!
What if a sudden illness or injury left you unable to speak for yourself?
Who would you want to speak for you?
What would you want them to know about your goals, values, and preferences?
Advance care planning is a process that helps you:
• think about your healthcare goals, values, and preferences;
• consider healthcare choices you may have to make in the future;
• talk about your choices with your doctor, your healthcare agent, and other loved ones;
• make a written plan for the future (advance directive).
Active Generation is holding classes the 2nd Tuesday of each month
2:00-4:00pm
Active Generations, Room 128
Call 605-336-6722 to reserve a spot!
Following the discussion, you will have the opportunity to make an appointment with a Facilitator who can help guide you through the process of completing an advance directive.
Congratulations!
The licensing school session met by Zoom 4-8 hours daily from June 13 to June 18. Before the intensive week, each student did 40-60 hours of homework. Reading and written assignments were sent electronically by each of the instructors to the students. One of the assignments was to video record a sermon that was viewed and critiqued during the live sessions.
Robert has preached at Wesley several times and has preached at the Union Gospel Mission. He has accepted a call to Langdon UMC in North Dakota. The Blackburn family will relocate in early July.
